The wise minister
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and my fellow friends. Today
I want to share a story entitled The Wise Minister.
Once a rich merchants house was robbed. The merchant suspected that the thief was
one of his servants. So he went to the minister and mentioned the incident. The minister
went to his house and assembled all of his servants and asked that who stole the merchants
things. Everybody denied.
The minister thought for a moment, then gave a stick of equal length to all the servants
of the merchant and said to them that the stick of the real thief will be longer by two inches
tomorrow. All the servants should be present here again tomorrow with their sticks.
All the servants went to their homes and gathered again at the same place the next
day. The minister asked them to show him their sticks. One of the servants had his stick
shorter by two inches. The minister said, This is your thief, merchant.
Later the merchant asked the minister, How did you catch him? The minister said,
The thief had already cut his stick short by two inches in the night fearing that his stick will
be longer by two inches by morning.
My friends, we know that truth will always prevail.
Thank you.
The Honest Woodcutter
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and friends. Today I want to
share a story entitled The Honest Woodcutter.
Once upon a time there was a poor woodcutter. He was very poor but he was always
honest. One hot day, he took his axe and went inside the nearby forest in search of wood.
After searching for a long time, he found one good tree near a river inside the forest.
Hemm.. this tree is good.
I can get lots of firewood So, the woodcutter started to work.
Swish, swoosh, swish swoosh..
Plop..
Oh no! As the woodcutter was cutting the woods, his axe slipped from his hands and
fell inside the river. The river was very deep. So he couldn't get into the water to take his
axe out. He started crying.
Oh..oh..what am I going to do?
I have lost my precious axe. Oh dear, oh dear..
Suddenly, a beautiful angel appeared from inside the river water.
Why are crying my dear woodcutter? She asked.
Oh, I have lost my axenow I wont be able to cut woods anymore.
The woodcutter told her how his axe fell inside the water. The angel went inside the
water and after sometime came out with a golden axe in her hands. The woodcutter refused
to accept that golden axe.
The angel again went inside the water. This time she came out with a silver axe and
gave it to the woodcutter. Again the woodcutter refused saying that his was not a silver axe.
The angel dived into the water. This time she came out with the woodcutter's iron axe.
The woodcutter happily accepted his axe and thanked the angel. The angel was
pleased with his honesty. The angel rewarded the gold and the silver axes to that woodcutter.
My friends! Honesty always get rewarded. That is the moral value that we can learn
from this story.
Thank you.
The Crow Who Wanted to Become White
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and friends. Today I want to
share a story entitled The Crow Who Wanted to Become White.
Once upon a time, there was a crow. He hated his black feathers. He thought that
people disliked him because of his black feathers.
One day, a crow saw a swan flying in the air. The crow was fascinated by the swans
white feathers. He thought that he too could become white if he lived like the swan. The
crow said to himself, The swan is white because he always swims and dives in the pond.
From that day onwards, the crow began to swim and dive in the pond. He also washed
his feathers thoroughly.
The swan was surprised to see this. He said to the crow Hey, Crow! You are not used
to the water. You will get sic if you swim and dive in the water too long. answered the
crow. Then my feathers will be as white as yours.
The crow soaked himself every day for a long time, but his feathers did not turn white.
He only became weaker and weaker. Finally, he fell sick and died.
From the story, we know that we must accept and be happy with what we are.
Thank you.
The Rooster and The Diamond
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and friends. Today I want to
share a story entitled The Rooster and The Diamond.
One day a rooster was out looking for food. He walked about until he came to a lane.
He started looking for food there.
As the rooster was looking for food, he suddenly saw something that sparkled.
That must be grain, thought the rooster. It is shining in the sunlight.
The rooster was very happy. He wanted to eat the grain, so he went closer to it.
Oh, it isnt a grain! screeched the rooster. Its a diamond!
The rooster threw the diamond away. He was very angry. He said, I am looking fro
grains, not diamonds. People always say that diamonds are valuable. But to me it is useless!
The rooster then continued on looking for grains. In the end he found some grains and
ate until he was full.
He also took home some of the grains.
From the story, we know that what is valuable to someone may not be valuable to
another.
Thank you.
The Ant and The Dove
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and friends. Today I want to
share a story entitled The Ant and The Dove.
One a hot day of summer, an ant was searching for some water. After walking around
for some time, she came near the river. To drink the water, she climbed up on a small rock.
While trying to drink a water, she slipped and fell into the river.
There was a dove sitting on a branch of a tree who saw an ant falling into the river.
The dove quickly plucked a leaf and dropped it into the river near the struggling ant. The
ant moved towards the leaf and climbed up onto it. Soon, the leaf drifted to dry ground, and
the ant jumped out. She looked up to the tree and thanked the dove.
Later, the same day, a bird catcher nearby was about to throw his net over the dove,
hoping to trap it. An ant saw him and guessed what he was about to do. The dove was resting
and he had no idea about the bird catcher. An ant quickly bit him on the foot. Feeling the
pain, the bird catcher dropped his net and let out a light scream. The dove noticed it and
quickly to flew away.
From the story, we know that if you do good, good will come to you. One good turn
deserves another.
Thank you.
