ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF CHAIRPERSON
AND MEMBERS OF KARNATAKA STATE FOOD
COMMISSION
Applications are invited for appointment to the posts of whole time
Chairperson and Members in the Karnataka State Food Commission, set up by
Government of Karnataka under the provisions of the Nation Food Security
Act, 2013 (NFSA). The Chairperson and Members of the State Food
Commission are to perform such duties and functions and exercise such powers
as prescribed under the NFSA and the relevant Government Order FCS 52
DRA 2012 dated:10.06.2016 made there under. The Head Office of the
Commission is at Benguluru.

a. Provided that there shall be at least two women, whether

Scheduled Castes and one person belonging to the Scheduled

State Government not below the rank of Joint Secretary:
2. Scale of pay:
Status pay and allowances and other facilities of Chairperson and other
members of State Food Commission shall be equivalent to the status, pay
and allowances and other facilities to the Secretary to the State
Government and Joint Secretary to the Government, respectively.
Provided that if the Chairperson or other Member, at the time of his
appointment is in receipt of a pension, other that a disability pension, in
respect of any previous service under the Government of India or Under any
State Government, his salary in respect of the Service as the Chairperson or
the other member shall be reduced by the amount of that pension including
any portion of pension which was commuted and pension equivalent of
other forms of retirement benefits excluding pension equivalent of
retirement gratuity.
Provided further that where the Chairperson or other Member if , at the time
of this appointment is in receipt of retirement benefits in respect of any
previous service rendered in a Corporation established by or under any
Central Act or State Act or a Government Company owned or controlled by
the Central Government or State Government, his salary in respect of the
service as the Chairperson or the other Member shall be reduced by the
amount of pension equivalent to the retirement benefits.
3. Eligibility Criteria:
(i) The Chairperson and other members shall be appointed from
amongst persons :
(a) Who are citizens of India
(b) Who are of Minimum age of 35 years. The date for determining
the eligibility of age in every respect shall be the closing date of
submitting the application.
and
(c) Who are or have been members of the All India Services or any
other Civil services of the Union or State or holding a civil post
under the Union or State having knowledge and experience in
matter relating to food security, policy making and administration
in the field of agriculture, civil supplies, nutrition, health or in any
allied field; OR
(d) Of eminence in public life with wide knowledge and experience
in agriculture, law, human rights, social service, management,
nutrition, health, food policy or public administration; OR
(e) Who have a proven record of work relating to the improvement of
the food and nutrition rights of the poor.
4. Tenure of Office:
The Chairperson or Member, State Food Commission shall hold office for a
term not exceeding Five years from the date on which he enters upon the office
and shall be eligible for re-appointment , provided that no person shall hold
office as Chairperson/Member after he has attained the age of sixty-five years.
The Chairperson/Member shall not concomitantly hold any other office.

6. Submission of Application
The Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria given above may send their
applications in the prescribed proforma as hosted in www.ahara.kar.nic.in under
Notification link together with the self-attested copies of supporting documents
addressed to The Secretary, food, Civil, Supplies & Consumer Affairs
Department, Karnataka Secretariat, # 29, Ground Floor, Vikasa Soudha,
Bengaluru-560 001 by post or in person, within 15 days from the date of
publication in the newspapers. The candidates working in Government / PSUs /
Autonomous Bodies etc., must send their application through proper channel
along with self-attested copies of the supporting documents.
7. Selection procedure:
Chairperson & Members of the State Food Commission will be appointed by
the State Government on the recommendation of a Selection Committee headed
by Honble Chief Minister of the State
NOTE:
The applicants are advised to go through the provisions of National Food
Security Act, 2013 and relevant Government Order FCS 52 DRA 2012
dated:10.06.2016 and satisfy themselves about their eligibility and other
conditions for being appointed as Chairperson / Member as the case may be.
The State Government reserves the right to reject any / or all applications
received for the post of Chairperson / Members without assigning any reason
thereof.
