QUESTION 4

Read the diary entry below.

28 April 2015

Dear Diary,

Today was my last day in SMK Bestari. I felt so sad when I was getting ready to school
this morning because I know this was the last time I will be going to this school. My dad got a
job in Japan so our whole family will be moving there. This is why I cannot go to SMK Bestari
anymore.

I am going to miss my friends very much, especially Janet, Cindy and Rachel. I have
known them since we were 6 years old. We have been in the same class since Year 1. We
always sit next to each other in class and we go everywhere together. They are my best
friends and I am sad that I won't see them for a long time after this. But we promised to keep
in touch through email.

Apart from that, I will miss my hometown. I have been living here since I was young. I
know all my neighbours. During festive seasons such as Hari Raya and Chinese New Year, we
always visit each other's houses to celebrate. I hope we will also have nice neighbours in
Japan.

Also, I will miss Malaysian food a lot. Other than Chinese food, I really enjoy eating food
from other cultures such as nasi lemak and roti canai. I heard that Malaysian food is very hard
to find in Japan. I hope I will be able to adapt to the food there.

The other thing that I am worried is the language. I don't speak any Japanese. How am I
supposed to talk to the people there? Thankfully, my parents are sending me to an English
medium school for the time being so I can still study even though I don't understand
Japanese. However, I still need to learn the language as soon as possible.

It is late now. I have to go to sleep. We are leaving first thing tomorrow morning so my
next entry will be from Japan. Hopefully our journey will be a smooth one.
