WRITTEN TEST (Sample Topic)

INTRODUCTION, DESCRIPTION (ARGUMENTS AND EXAMPLES),

CONCLUSION (250 words)
The Writing Assignment
The student will be required to write a piece of approximately 250 words on a given topic.
Again the range will be wide in choice but as it is similar to the IELTS writing test a piece
about the student’s chosen subject, or news item that usually isn’t fresh news but untimely.
So it could be about the American election because it is an ongoing story.
The person in charge of the tests said that too many students spend too much time counting
the number of words and forget about the essay itself. It would therefore be advisable for
students to focus on structure first when preparing for the test. If they can master structural
awareness, then they can prepare to edit parts of their pieces or extend them. Therefore, the
examiner is looking for structure first, grammar, spelling and content second and length third.
The writing test lasts for 40 minutes and all parts of the test are administered on the same
day. If, for some reason, the student feels unwell on the day of the test the university will
allow the test to be changed to another day. It must also be noted that the university will
allow students to skip the test if they have a B1 certificate for academic purposes.
