INTRODUCTION:-

This vehicular overpass is located on NH-4A road connecting Ponda &


Panjim. At the crossing point of highway & village road coming from Old Goa
side and going towards Sunshine school an X- junction is formed. Two service
rods coming from both sides of highway NH-4A are also merging at the point
of crossing. Service road coming from Panjim side has a width of 7m at meeting
point of X-Junction and converges to 3.5 as merge with highway. Service road
coming from Ponda side and merging with village road going towards sunshine
school side has an average width of about 3.5m. A retaining wall of about 5 m
height & 170 m length is already existing to retain the soil of this steep slopping
service road providing access to highway.

The vehicular over pass has been proposed to facilitate the free movement
of traffic at this X-Junction. There is heavy traffic on this Road observed as per
site inspection. This Junction is very busy and jams on regular basis hampers
day to day life of common man.
P.C.U. which is expected to increase exponentially as a lot of construction
activity is going on in vicinity of the junction. This construction includes land
acquisition of some area of private land on old Goa side.
