AI-Powered Java Code Generator

This project proposal is for an AI tool called AutoCode that can generate Java code snippets based on a few keywords provided by the user about the desired program. It aims to help programmers by writing code for them after understanding their requirements. The tool uses artificial intelligence and deep learning concepts. If successful, it may allow developers to enter keywords and receive relevant Java code in return to assist with their task. The objective is to help programmers write APIs. It addresses the issue that programming today involves more configuration than writing code from scratch. Students will learn AI and deep learning concepts while working on the project.

DON BOSCO INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, DBIT, MUMBAI 400070

Computer Department Under Graduate Project Proposal

2017-18

“TITLE OF THE PROJECT”

Submitted to
Department of Computer Engineering
Don Bosco Institute of Technology

Group No. : 07

Proposal Number : 03

Area : Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning

Date of Submission :
DON BOSCO INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, DBIT, MUMBAI 400070

1. Title of the project: AutoCode

2. Brief idea of why the project is being done:

IT is an deep learning tool that basically works like a search engine for coding: tell it what
sort of program you want to create with a couple of keywords, and it will spit out java code
that will do what you’re looking for, based on its best guess

3. Background knowledge the student is expected to have –topics and depth:

Artificial Intelligence
Deep Learning

4. Scope of project – expected outcomes in measurable terms:

• IT may allow develop per to enter a few keywords indicating what kind of program he or
she wants to create.
• After entering the keywords, the software may return code in Java that will help the
developers with their task.
• IT will try to read the programmer’s mind and predict the program they want.

5. Objective of the Project:

• This new AI (Artificial Intelligence) tool may help programmers to write code snippets
that contain Java application programming interfaces (APIs).

6. Problem Statement:
“Programming today is very different than it was 30 or 40 years ago,”. “Computers
today are in our pockets, on our wrists and in billions of home appliances, vehicles,
and other devices. The days when a programmer could write code from scratch are
long gone.” You usually need to give a lot of details about what the target program
does, and writing down these details can be as much work as just writing the code.

7. Learning points for the student:
