Brothers of the Massive and Progressive 12th District, it is my pleasure to report that chapters in
the Southwest Area (encompassing Arizona, Nevada and Utah) continue lift our communities
and to effectively represent our beloved Omega.
Southwest Area Basileis Conference Calls:
No conference call was conducted in the past quarter. A call will be scheduled for October.
Southwest Area Quarterly:
1. Phi Iota’s Andrew Davis won district Graduate Omega Man of the Year Award.
2. Phi Iota’s Paul Hodson won district Founders’ Award.
3. Beta Mu Mu’s Elton Bacon won district Citizen of the Year Award.
4. Alpha Theta’s John Rothleutner won district Undergraduate Omega Man of the Year Award.
5. SW Area Social Action Activity - Participate in American Diabetes Association Walk in
Phoenix during the District Council Meeting (Sep 25).
Southwest Area Chapter Activities Recap:
1. Iota Iota Iota (Graduate): Continued scholarship fundraiser of Cesar Chavez Flags sales;
conducted White Linen Party and monthly barbeque reclamation projects; participated in the
Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” Feed the Homeless program; assisted with “Tire
Pressure Check” at church; assisted with local Boys Scouts activities.
2. Beta Mu Mu (Graduate): Volunteered time toward voter registration and voter mobilization
efforts; presented $1000 scholarship certificate to a graduating senior – will be paid once
student is officially enrolled in school; mentored Junior High School students, conducted
workshops, & assisted with field trips as part of a Summer Enrichment Program; continued
efforts to identify unaffiliated Brothers in Las Vegas for reclamation; continued to stress a
healthy lifestyle for Brothers in the chapter; visited ill Brothers in hospitals and at home.
3. Delta Alpha Alpha (Graduate): Participated in local Juneteenth activities, including blood
drive; continuing preparations for Boys to Men youth program event (Oct 16); plans to
support annual cookout at University of Arizona.
4. Phi Iota (Graduate): Concluded Events: co-sponsored Bowling for Kids Sake with Alpha Phi
Alpha & Big Brothers & Big Sisters (June 5); participated in Sigma Gamma Rho skating
fundraisers (June 12 & 18); conducted monthly activities with Omega Youth Leadership
Academy; assisted with 27th Annual Computer Camp at ASU; participated in St. Vincent de
Paul “Feed the Hungry” program (June 27). Upcoming Events: Co-hosting District Council
Meeting weekend (Sep 24-25); Golf Tournament & Wine Tasting (Oct 16).
5. Kappa Xi (Graduate & Undergraduate @ UNLV): Provided aptitude proficiency test
preparation as part of Chapter’s Project Save program; participated in the Christ Church
Episcopal Recital (June 19); participated in the Annual Greek Basketball Game; conducted
reclamation Purple Thursday event each 2nd and 4th Thursday at Silver Miner’s Casino.
6. Alpha Epsilon @ the University of Arizona: Working with Greek life to get AE reactivated.
7. Alpha Theta @ Arizona State University: Six Brothers on campus after summer 2010
initiation of 3 Brothers. Concluded Events: assisted with 27th Annual Computer Camp at
ASU; conducted car wash, clothes drive & road-side clean-up; participated in feed the
homeless program. Upcoming Events: co-hosting District Council Meeting weekend (Sep 24-
25); monthly Madden tournament; Informational (Sep 20); working with BAC on various
events; attending AAMASU fall leadership conference; hosting Founder’s Day Banquet.

Southwest Area chapters continue to be beacons of progress in the 12th District. The Southwest is
home to the 12th District Immediate Past District Representative (Charles Peevy), 12th District
Keeper of Finance (Bro. Kelly Shannon), 12th District Counselor (Lawton Connelly),
Achievement Week Chairman (Andrew Davis) and Investment Team Leader (Kelly Shannon).
The Southwest has a lot to be proud of. I thank you for the chance to serve and look forward to a
brighter future for Omega.
