Mid-Semester Examination - September 2017 Department of Electronics Engineering

This mid-semester examination for a digital communication course covers three questions: 1. Determine if a binary code satisfies the prefix condition and find the Lempel-Ziv code for a binary sequence. 2. Explain how changing k affects dmin for an (n,k) code, find the dmin of a Hamming code, define cyclic codes and outline generating a systematic cyclic code. 3. Find the basis for a signal space, draw the signal constellation diagram, and draw the decision boundaries for signals s1(t), s2(t) and s3(t).
