VPN MANUAL FOR UBUNTU

Click Login to start the installation.
Due to security issues everyone who wants to use Aarhus
Unviversity VPN must use an eGrid card to sign on everytime.
If you don’t have an eGrid card yet, you can obtain it at
http://sikkerid.au.dk.
Then you must enter the 3 digits from your eGrid card to start the
installation.

The installation will now try to start using Java runtime. If you don’t
have Java runtime installed can you instead use the install script

runtime installed, jump to page 3 to continue the installation by
using Java runtime.

Click at Linux_x86_64 to download the installation script.
Click Save File.
Once the download is completed open the terminal by click on
the icon on the top left corner or possibly the Windows or Mac
Command button depending on your keyboard layout.
In the terminal execute the following command, afterwards you
must allow the script to run with your administrator password for
the computer:
cd ~/Downloads/ && chmod +x vpnsetup.sh && sudo ./
vpnsetup.sh

A security warrning might appear, asking if you trust the installation
from https://remote.au.dk.
Click Yes.
Java asks may be executed on the computer.
Click Run.

To start the VPN client you need to use Ubuntus search engine in
the same way as when you opened the terminal. This time you
search for Cisco VPN.
When you open the client for the first time you are asked to
enter the hostname you want to connect to. The address is:
remote.au.dk/department, where department must be replaced
by your associated department, i.e. bss, arts, he, st.
Click Connect
Due to security you must provide your credentials everytime you
logon the VPN. These credentials are the same as when you
began the installation in the browser.
You must then provide 3 digits from your eGrid card.
The client will from now on remember your logon hostname,
and username, but you must enter password and eGrid code
everytime you connect.
When the client minimizes, the connection has been established.
To disconnect click on the Cisco AnyConnect icon in the dock to
the left on your screen. In the window click Disconnect.
The connection will automatically be disconnected once the
computer is turned off, so it isn’t necessary to disconnect before
you shut down your computer.
