Classification of Electronic Components
Active Electronic Components
Active electronic components are those that rely on a source of
energy to function and are able to control to control the flow of
electricity. Example of these components are semiconductors
like diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, various displays like
LCD, LED, CRTs and power sources like batteries, PV cells and
other AC and DC supply sources.
Diodes- A diode is a device that lets current flow in only one Transistors- A transistor is a three-terminal device in which a voltage
direction. A diode has two terminals, called the anode and applied to one of the terminals (called the base) can control current
the cathode. Current will flow through the diode only when that flows across the other two terminals (called the collector and
positive voltage is applied to the anode and negative voltage to
the emitter). The transistor is one of the most important devices in
the cathode. If these voltages are reversed, current will not
flow. electronics.
Light-Emitting Diodes- A light-emitting diode (or LED) is a
special type of diode that emits light when current passes
through it.
