INTRODUCTION
The definition of Interview

Interview is a conversation where questions are asked and answers are given. In common
parlance, the word “interview” refers to a one on one conversation between an interviewer and
an interviewee. Interviews usually take place face-to-face and in person, although modern
communications technologies such as the Internet have enabled conversations to happen in
which parties are separated geographically, such as with videoconferencing software,
and telephone interviews can happen without visual contact.

The important of interview

Personal interviews are used by all employers and companies for selecting their
staff. Interview is one of the most important step in the staff selection procedure. Interview
proves important because it connects both the employers as well as job seekers. It
assists employers in selecting a right person for a right job.Interview proves important because it

position on merit.

The reason why we chose the topic

We chose the topic of job interviews about lawyers because we first had a law school
background, then in our opinion there were some very in-depth things in an interview about
lawyers. One of which addresses the issue of overtime where lawyers basically do not have
regular work schedule, so it is important to know the interviewees' opinions about it. So we hope
that after we graduate from Merdeka University, we can find out thoroughly how to handle an
interview in the legal world.
MATERIALS

Company background

The name of our company is Hotman Paris and Partners Law Firm, established before 1980
handling, serving, and fighting in the court about civil and criminal cases. We need the lawyer
that has an experience fighting on the court minimal 5 years.

The position

The position available is Lawyer at the Hotman Paris & Partners Law Firm.

Qualifications

Has an experience fighting on the court minimal 5 years.

Interview Script;

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming today. My name is Agatha Angel and
my friend is Kevien Dicky Aldison. Today we are going to do job interview, but before that I will
describe about our company. The name of our company is Hotman Paris and Partners Law Firm,
established before 1980 handling, serving, and fighting in the court about civil and criminal
cases. We need the lawyer that has an experience fighting on the court minimal 5 years.

So let’s do the Interview.

Interviewer : Come in.

Interviewee : ( open the door )

Interviewer : Please have a sit. You are Mr. Kevien right ?

Interviewee : Yes, I am.

Interviewer : Are you ready interview today ?

Interviewee : Yes, I am ready.

Interviewer : Ok. Please describe yourself ?

Interviewee : My name is Kevien Dicky Aldison, friends call me kevien, i am 27 years old, i
have had work experience as a lawyer for 5 years, i grew up to work together in
handling criminal or civil cases. so I am sure I have an ability as a reliable lawyer.
I believe this experience has prepared me to take the next step. This company has
a reputation for excellent lawyer for fighting in the court. This opportunity looks
perfect to me, and I look forward to working with the best.
Interviewer : What do you know about this company ? Do you search in google or someone
tell you ?
Interviewee : Yes, I do see in the website of your company, from what I read This company
was born before 1980 which is engaged in handling civil and criminal cases,
which are very well known for handling large cases.
Interviewer : Why are you interested in this company ?
Interviewee : Your company is one of the best in fighting in the court and I have read there are
big cases this company has ever handled which is surpize me, So make me sure to
work here.
Interviewer : Wow you know this company very well.
What achievements do you have during your career ?
Interviewee : I have won an award as the best lawyer in my last office. appreciation for my
dedication.
Interviewer : Can you tell me about your last office, why you resign ?
Interviewee : I do not have problem with my last company, I resign because in my last
company I just handle about small cases. So I want to challenge myself to handle
big cases.
Interviewer : Ok, I see. What do you think about overtime ? Are you okay with that ?
Interviewee : overtime is one of the usual habits for a lawyer, because lawyers commonly do
not have a regular schedule, there is no problem with that, so I'm fine with
overtime.
Interviewer : What do you do to calm yourself under work pressure ? Because you know the
job of lawyer there are many challenges, So I want to know.
Interviewee : I overcome this by playing guitar and watching comedy movie to calm myself
down.
Interviewer : Ok, Do you apply to the other companies besided this company ?
Interviewee : No, I don’t, because I'm focused on wanting to work here and I'm very sure I'm
accepted because of my ability.
Interviewer : For the last question how much salary do you want Mr. Kevien ?
Interviewee : Right now I’m focused on finding a job that right for my career. I hope the salary
is comparable with my ability, I do not have a specific number in mind yet, and
my priority is to find a position that’s great for me according to my ability.
Interviewer : Are there questions for us ?
Interviewee : Yes,one, may you tell me how many lawyers work here?
Interviewer : There fifty lawyers work in this company Mr. Kevien.
Interviewee : Ok, I see. That is the last question.
Interviewer : Ok. This is the end of the interview. I will contact you in email if you are
accepted.
Interviewee : yes, I see. Thank you very much.
Interviewer : Your welcome.
RESULTS
After performing the mock job interview in front of the class, here are the feedbacks that both the
interviewer and the interviewee got.
1. The questions are very good because related with the situation of job interview which is
specifically.
2. The position of sitting both of interviewee and interviewer is good.
3. The performance is great. Both the interviewer and interviewee did a great job.
4. The interviewee has to make an eye contact.
5. In the job interview must mention the number of salary.
6. The question about the company must not be repeated.
