Let us have a short recap of what we
had discussed yesterday.
Class, what was our lesson yesterday?
Our lesson yesterday was all about the
different types of fasteners.
Very good! First, what is a fastener?
Fastener - to join or secure the openings by
tying, pinning, or by the use of buttons,
snaps, hook and eye, and Velcro.
I have her pictures of the different
types of fasteners.

according to the color of the meta-strips you
have. The group who will win will get a reward.

2. Brand – a category of products that are all made by a particular company and all
have a particular name.
3. Size – one of a series of graduated measures especially of manufactured articles
(as of clothing) conventionally identified by numbers or letters.
4. Care – effort made to do something correctly, safely, or without causing damage.
5. Flag – usually rectangular piece of fabric of distinctive design that is used as a
symbol or as a decoration.
6. Manufacturer –a company that makes a product.

What is a label?
Label is a piece of paper, cloth, or similar
material that is attached to something to
identify or describe it.
Very good!! It is used as identification of
something such as a garment.
What are the common labels found in
garments?
First, it indicates a brand name or brand logo?
Brand or main label, ma’am!
What is a brand label?
Brand or main label indicates the brand
name or brand logo of company where the
garments comes from.

clothing brands?
Examples:
LEVI’S, LEE, JAG for T-shirts , Adidas
and Nike for shoes , and Zara for Dresses
Another labels found in a garments is with a
specific measurement, what is this label?
Size label, ma’am!
Do you know what a size label is?
Yes, ma’am! Small, medium, large, and
extra-large.
Right! Who will read?
Size Label has the specific measurements
of human body such as XS for extra small,
S for small, M for medium, L for large, or
XL for extra-large and numbers for
children’s clothes such as 8, 10, 12, 14,
16, 18, 20, 22.

What is a label that includes wash and care
label instructions?
Care label, ma’am!
Do you have any idea of what is a care label?
Yes, ma’am! Care label is attached at side
seam to warn wearers on what to do
during washing, ironing or drying to
maintain the color, design, shrinkage
ability and composition that makes up the
garments.

can you see in a care label?
Symbols, ma’am!
What kind of symbols?
There’s an iron, a triangle, circle, and tub.
That’s right! Look at this picture. Every
symbols has its corresponding meanings.
What does it means?
The needed water temperature for washing,
ma’am!

A flat iron and its temperature, ma’am!

A bleach or chlorine warning, ma’am!

It is for drying.

What is a label that is attached at side seam
either printed or embroidered brand logo?
Flag label, ma’am!
What do you think is a flag label?
Flag label is a small label attached at side
seam with printed brand logo. Some
garments especially T-shirts have flag
label embroidered or printed at the upper
right side of the garment as design feature.
Look at this picture, the flag label is near the
side seam or at the hem. It flags the brand logo.
Who has a blue corner t-shirt? Did you see a
label on the left side sleeve? That is also a flag
label. It identifies the brand of the t-shirt.
Do you have any idea what is a manufacturer?
Factory, ma’am!
Okay, a factory! What does a factory do?
They produce products.
Right! It means that manufacturer is a
company who has a factory that produces
products.
What is a manufacturer label? Who will read?
Manufacturer label is a label that includes
manufacturer’s code for the buyers who want to
order the items from different parts of the world.
Manufacturer label identifies where the
product was manufactured. Look at this picture.
It tells the company name, address and the product
code.
When you and your boyfriend or your girlfriend is
looking for a t-shirt and you saw a label saying
“couples t-shirt”, immediately it attracts your
attention, right?

What is a special label?
Special label is normally attached to draw
customer’s attention at the time of
purchase.
That’s right! It catch the attention of the
costumers. See this picture. There is additional
features that might attract the attention of the
costumer.
