First meeting at a media party until Benjie got close to mike (Be careful mike)

Benjie is a gay guy whom I met for the first time at a media party. He is quiet and
doesn’t like people who take advantage of someone else.

When we went to a certain school in Zambales and a woman wanted to

publicize her act of giving donations. Benjie got her name.

Mike: Write about it?

Benjie: No.
Mike: So what are you planning to do?
Benjie: Have her bewitched.

At work we usually talk about money, machismo, and sex and when it comes to
emotional discussions they would all say be objective. That is why I feel
comfortable with Benjie because I can express my feelings freely without being
judged unlike when I am with co-workers, who are so manly and even warned
me to be careful around Benjie because I might turn gay as well. I am sure about
my sexuality, having a friend who is gay will not change.
And I’m very sure that what’s between Benjie and I is nothing beyond friendship.

They hangout more often until the night mike tempted Benjie”Don’t you find me
attractive”

Carmi: Hi.
Benjie: Hello.

Carmi is beautiful and sexy. She was Mike’s ex-girlfriend they were together for
two years. I felt saddened for both of them because they seem perfect for each
other. Life is really ironic you know, other people just throw something that is
important to others this why I want to fix their relationship, I don’t want it to go to
waste.

At first, I thought to myself there’s nothing wrong with being friends with mike.
There’s nothing wrong with hanging out, watching movies, having dinner, and
inviting him over to my apartment. It will only turn out wrong if I fall for him.

As days go by I saw the sentimental side of mike. He shared about his dreams, he
wants to write a book, study again, go abroad. And with this I slowly started
having feelings for mike.

We frequently get drunk together but I never touched him for I don’t want him to
think that I am that kind of person.
Mike: Don’t you find me attractive, Benjie?
Benjie: And why?
Mike: Nothing.

Mike had the worst day ever until Benjie decided to ignore mike

I’m having the worst time of my life. My diskette which contained tons of raw
data was infected with a virus, my secretary screamed at me for accusing her of
bringing in the virus that infected the computers, my sister was victimized by the
akyat-bahay gang, and Carmi gave a call to say goodbye because she will go
to the states for good.

I was at Benjie’s apartment and drank too many beers. We were in bed and I felt
a sudden urge to embrace him tightly, I knew the embrace shock him, even I was
surprise with what I did, I whispered to him,

Mike: Please help me, what should I do? I just felt I was useless. I couldn’t even fix
my own relationship.

I embraced Benjie but it took him a while to reciprocate. I felt lighter and breath
better after I did that and I remember, he kissed me on the lips before we slept.

The next morning, I was the who can’t look at him at the eye

Mike: Sorry.
Benjie: For what?
Mike: Last night, I tempted you once more.
Benjie: And I let myself tempted all right.
Mike: But it’s no big deal, no malice.
Benjie: Let’s not talk about it.
Mike: Were you able to sleep well?
Benjie: No.
Mike: Why?
Benjie: I was watching over you.
Mike: Why.
Benjie: You kept crying.
Mike: Oh yes. As if I were a gay.
Benjie: Just because one gay does not mean one is a crybaby.
Mike: Sorry.
Benjie: Have your breakfast. Aren’t you going to work?
Mike: Not today. Let’s just go out.
Benjie: I have so much work at the office. I can’t.
Mike: May I stay here in your place for a while?
Benjie: Sure. Let’s go out this evening.
Mike: Okay. You decide.
Mike: Benjie…
Benjie: Yes?
Mike: Thanks.
 After that I noticed that Benjie and I spend less time together. he was always busy
at work and going out of town. I got busy at work as well. We weren’t able to as
much as before that’s the reason why I couldn’t ask him why.
Benjie’s mom died until they both thought sharing an apartment together

Mike and I had a discussion about our relationship I got emotional I went crazy.

Mike: Take it easy, Benjie.

Benjie: How can I take it easy, Mike, Nanay just died so suddenly. Now I don’t
even know if I can survive without her.
Mike: You can. You’re tough.
Benjie: Not without Nanay. I am so dependent on my mother. You know that.
Mike: I am here, Benjie.

And I looked at mike and wondered what he meant with those words but does
he mean “I am here…as a friend” or “I am here…as a lover”

After the interment I kept crying in my room and mike was there. I hugged mike
and he let me pound him in the chest until I fell asleep.

Afterwards mike and I went on a seminar In Baguio, on our way back I spoke to
him

Benjie: I’m sorry for saying I love you.

Mike: I knew you were thinking about it.
Benjie: Why, haven’t you thought about the meaning of the things I’ve said?
Mike: Yes, I have. So what’s wrong with that.
Benjie: What’s wrong? Mike, I am hoping for the impossible
Mike: There’s nothing wrong with hoping
Benjie: If there is something to hope for. And I know there’s none
Mike: But don’t you think that we are better off as friends?
Benjie: But I’ve gone beyond my limits
Mike: You know what I mean
Benjie: So what do you expect from me?

after that conversation, I realized there is only one way to find out if there is a
chance to deepen our relationship. I would ask him to move in with me, if he says
yes, we would be able to figure things out. if he says no, then it would be fine I
was alone from the start after all.
