MEMORANDUM
DATE: January 12, 1978
TO: All Monthly Salaried Personnel
FROM: Edward Mike Davis; CEO, Tiger Oil Company, Tiger Drilling Co., Inc.
This memorandum is to announce both new policy and remind everyone of policy currently in place. If
anyone has any questions please contact your supervisor.
A purchase order system will be initiated immediately, and only certain people will be allowed to sign.
All invoices for purchases of equipment, materials, etc. will be handled by this purchase order system.
Expense accounts must be approved by both the appropriate superior and the office in Houston. Each
person is responsible for their own account. Any abuse of an expense account will result in immediate
termination.
Insurance issues must be reported immediately to the insurance company and employees are to follow
their instructions as well as those of the superior. In the case of truck accidents, call the Houston Office
immediately. All accidents that occur during nights and weekends should be reported the following day,
if possible. If there is a death contact me immediately regardless of time of day.
Additionally, any time any boss needs something and cannot get it because of credit, it is important to
not discuss our financial situation with the vendor, instead call Houston. If Houston cannot give
satisfaction, escalate the problem as necessary.
This is a friendly reminder to all workers:
• Only business calls will be made and charged to the company. No personal calls will be allowed.
• There will be no liquor of any kind kept in any of the offices, other than by direct order of an
authorized superior
• Cleanliness and dress code policy must always be followed by everyone. This includes ensuring
that the yard is cleared of hazards.
• Submit daily work logs to your superior.
• Detailed material transfers will be made for any and all equipment moving between locations.
In addition, the trucking department has been found to have numerous problems and should be
reminded:
• Drivers are assigned and are responsible for boomers and chains.
• Boomers must be wired after they are closed and checked for load shift when hauling
equipment.
• All company equipment will be checked off weekly.
• Drivers are responsible for inspecting their trucks daily, this includes, but is not limited to,
checking:
o Oil level
o Fasteners
o Battery cables
o Leaks
o Tire Wear
• Trucks should be run daily to prevent battery drain
• If there is a problem that cannot be addressed immediately contact either Duane Brown or Fred
Addison.
• Damaging property, such as fences and tearing up ditches, is not allowed.
• Drivers must get at least six hours of sleep every twenty-four hours, which can be done either in
the truck or in a motel room.
• Drinking is prohibited while a driver is on company time.
• Drivers will get one day per week off, to be scheduled with their supervisor.
• Excessive speed is prohibited.
• Supervisors must submit a complete inventory, along with condition, of tires and truck parts, as
well as any rigs and spare equipment.
• Drivers will receive a receipt of all items they have picked up and dropped off, as well as a
manifest of all goods, including weight to ensure that drivers avoid any potentially damageable
bridges.
• Drivers not currently moving items will check in with the local superior and work while they are
on company time.
• The following will result in the immediate termination of the driver responsible:
o Ruining equipment due to negligence or abuse
o Driving non-company passengers, except in the case of emergencies
o Losing an item on the driver’s manifest
In addition to the above there will be a new truck manager hired for Lafayette, and a long-term
investigation of the department will be conducted.
The following is for those working on rigs:
• Rigs must be inspected daily while shut down.
• All small engines must have their exhausts covered, except when they are ran once a month.
• Welding machines are only to be used by trained personnel.
• Supervisors are to watch any welder, promptly signing the ticket after they have finished.
• Supervisors are to only call welders for minor work, higher authorities must be contacted for
larger works.
• Rigs will be subject to unannounced weekly inspections.
• Every rig move will be overseen by Duane Brown and the new truck manager.
To all hiring personnel, I would like to remind everyone to only hire those who meet our guidelines and
that you are authorized to give additional wages in order to fill needed positions.
In conclusion, I would like to remind all employees that these policies are mandatory and non-
negotiable.
(Signed)
EDWARD MIKE DAVIS
