(2003) that tested a model of career indecision in college students based on parent role, self-efficacy and peer role. It also mentions that Pascual (2014) found students primarily consider job availability after college, and Koech et al. Career decision making attracted many educational researchers as this is a very important part in
planning career guidance for students, budget allocation for different institutions that provides training
for the career tracks, curriculum development, and more. To understand more about career decision
making, many researchers have already studied factors that may affect career decision making. Guay
and co-workers (2003) proposed and tested a model in an attempt to explain career indecision in 834
French-Canadian college students. Factors considered in their model include parent role, self-efficacy,
and peer role. According to Pascual (2014), students’ first consideration in choosing career path to
pursue is the availability of work after college. Koech and his colleagues (2016) concluded that the
students’ social interactions with teachers, parents, and peers affect the students’ career choice. A study
conducted in Antipolo, Rizal, Philippines, showed that gender, average monthly income, school
preference, occupation of the head of the household, and the average scholastic ratings are associated
to the career choice of Grade 9 students (Abarro 2016). According to Alexander (2010), the three most
important motivators of students in choosing a career are good salary, stable job, and low stress.

Choosing your career is one of the hardest part of your life as one mistake can change everything –
that’s why many researchers are so invested in this topic. Numerous researchers have considered
variables that may influence career choice making. Including them are Guay and his associates on 2003,
who used a model to talk about career indecision to college students. Some students consider the job
they’ll get after years of studying, says Pascual on 2014. But Koech and is colleagues added that peer
pressuer, the students’ relatives & teachers also has an effect to the students’ choice of career. Many
were associated to the students’ career choice such as gender, school preference, and others – also as
stated by Alexander in 2010, the students’ motivation in choosing their career are great compensation,
stable occupation, and low level of stress.

The right career choice for the students entering into the professional education is critical having high
impact on their professional life and future achievement. This is the turning point: it cannot be left, on
intuition, preconceived notions, wild imaginations or popular concepts. A missperceived career choice
directs all individual efforts and resources into wrong direction, when not aligned with the expectations;
would not only be frustrating rather draining of the individual energy and wastage of resources. The re-
alignment is possible, but it has serious implications in terms of time, money and motivation. The career
choice of the students must need to be based on; strong knowledge, complete information, and
appropriately guided, matching individual personality type and other intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The
students need to be oriented on new emerging trends, future opportunities and challenges in the
context of career choice options. They need to know the prevalent market trends and practices and job
scenario of various sectors.

REPHRASED TEXT:

The chosen track of a student affects everything in his/her life – the right choice will bring future
achievements while the wrong choice will direct everything into the wrong direction. One must choose
their track based on what they heart really desires, not because they feel taking it, not because of wild
imagination & what’s trending these days. Their choice of profession must be based totally on:
sturdy understanding, information, and as it should be guided, matching one’s personality
and considering the different outside and inside factors.

ORIGINAL TEXT:

Career selection is one of many important choices students will make in determining future plans. This
decision will impact them throughout their lives. The essence of who the student is will revolve around
what the student wants to do with their life-long work. Basavage (1996, p.1) in her thesis asked, “What
is it that influences children one way or another?” Over the school’s front door at Rindge School of
Technical Arts is the saying, “Work is one of our greatest blessings. Everyone should have an honest
occupation” (Rosenstock & Steinberg, cited in O’Brien, 1996, p. 3). Every student carries the unique
history of their past and this determines how they view the world. That history created, in part by the
student’s environment, personality, and opportunity, will determine how students make career choices.
It then follows that how the student perceives their environment, personality, and opportunity also will
determine the career choices students make.

REPHRASED TEXT:

The future lies on the decisions that we made, are making, and will be making in the future. The identity
of one’s person will be based on what they want to do in their work that they will be do for the rest of
their lives. As Basavage asked in her thesis about what influences a child is the saying in front of Rindge
School of Technical Arts, stating that everyone deserves an honest job for it is a great blessing – and as
the students grow up, they’ve carried the history and this history determined the way they see the
world. In this history, they let the students decide on what they’re going to do with their lives based on
the societal and peer pressure, and the opportunities they will get and of course, how the student views
these factors will also affect their choice of career.
