DIASS ( Disciplines and ideas in Social Sciences)

Theme: Pamana ng Nakaraan, Regalo ng Kasalukuyan at Buhay ng Kinabukasan

Date of Performance: December 10. 2019
Venue: HUMSS 12-C Classroom

One of the topics that we discussed in DIASS or Disciplines and Ideas in Social Sciences
is counselling and it plays a major role in our culminating activity. With the help of the
guidance and support of Mrs.
Donato, we create an
unbelievable and breathtaking
culminating activity.
Guidance and
counselling are important
especially in this kind of activity,
and teachers have a huge role in
bringing out the best in their
students. Good conduct is
coveted, but sometimes young
minds need guidance to polish
their personality. Through counselling, children are given advice on how to be creative and to
think outside the box.
Furthermore, proper counselling will help incorporate valuable lessons in their daily
life. Some sessions should involve career guidance, where the students are advised on the
selection of courses and different career paths.

Young minds need proper guidance that will make them potent to stand in society and
make a name for themselves. Counselling not only helps them to make decisions especially into
this kind of activity, but it also makes them confident and mentally prepare them for societal
hardships. It also helps them for their professional career in the future.

Counselling helps in improving the relationship between the teacher and the student
which can be beneficial to develop control on the child. Every educational institution has its
own goals that can be achieved if you have control over the student.
Creative Non-fiction

One of the the highlights of the show happened when the class invited the Talavera
Senior High School – Supreme Student Government President; Edwin L. Pilapil, as a special
guest speaker just before the culminating activity started he delivered a speech to express his
overwhelming gratitude and
priviledge to the performers
of the event. How it was
connected to Creative Non-
fiction, is not the speech
itself, it is what the
President said during his
speech, a memoir(if you
know that), some specific
events in his lifetime, where
in the past, he was a youth that was lost his way of his journey, that he went doing things
almost illegal back then, realizing that he went off wrong, that he ruined his life, but it was not
too late, when he was invited by his friend to go to church every Sunday, through a series of
brief events, that prompt him to start a new life, surrender himself to god and be a good one
ever since. His efforts put him up where he belonged to this day as one of the outstanding
students and a potential good conduct awardee.

Creative Non-fiction, blatantly in a written form, occassionaly a narrative one, or can

be in oral way. It is a contagious state that after writing comes reading and speaking. Although
the whole culminating activity was rendered fictionalized, looking onto possible ways, you can
find real sources, references and situations inspired by attentive thinking in public speaking
proficiency on an otherwise an entertataiing event arranged from fictional presentations,
stories, biographies, and real life acoounts.

The Supreme Student Government President delivered just a wonder speech regarding
his past life. It was inspirational through that makes us all performers fired up right before we
start the event and reminds us that life is not constant and that the best way to predict the
outcome of such situation is to make it how would you like to concluded the event with
maximum effort of excellence towards performance and relevance to the theme.
English for Academic Purposes

In my opinion, I think our culminating activity doesn’t really have a connection in this
subject. However ,there are still some parts in the show in which the academic english writing
were used most notably on how the master of ceremonies hosted the culminating activity. The
use of the English language actually helps to caught the attention of the audience.

A master of ceremonies (also known as an MC or emcee) is the official host for a

staged event, performance, or party. Normally, a master of ceremonies introduces speakers,
makes announcements, and engages with the audience to keep the ceremony agenda flowing
as smoothly as possible

Their unbelievable confidence towards public speaking is quite difficult though, being
able understand grammar as well as having a strong vocabulary makes a person a good speaker
in the front of the crowd just like how a master of ceremony do. Explicit ideas of academic
english relives a person into his linguistic abilities to deal and contribute to specific events and
occassions like the culminating activity which revealed that masters if cermony or emcees were
just as important as the performers.

If there will be another culminating activity, it is expected the uses of profesdional and
academic english will be more frequent with possibilities of the guest speaker who will speak
english as well. It will be quite hasty and rash to put the whole next culminating activity into a
full english speaking performance that is why its use will put to limit.

It is not hard to understand how this subject was actually related to the community as a
whole. The theme of our study is all about how time goes by. The theme is all about comparing
the lives between now and then. It is easily to understand how History makes a huge impact in
the culminating activity.
Folk dances is also shown in our
culminating activity. Philippine folk
dance helps keep the people
connected to their ancestry and
their traditions. Folk dance helps
to preserve the cultural unity of
the people. In addition to that,
People think folk dances are
important because they help keep
a culture alive. People have been
doing folk dances for hundreds of
years, and there is value keeping
that tradition alive. Folk dances are
important because they preserve
the Philippine culture and pass it on to the next generation. They are a uniting force to the
Philippine people.

The short prayer in the beginning of the culminating activity followed by a doxology
performance show how Filipinoo people were devoted to God is part of Theology..Though it is
not applied in real life, it can be seen that these disciplines and ideas in social science were
present in the said culminating activity, where, in fact, HUMSS 12-C students are very familiar
with as social science and liberal arts are there are of excellence.

Regards will be gived to congratulate all HUMSS 12-C students that performed an event, and
maked it possible to be a successful one. Without good performers and outstanding organizers
of the culminating activity, it will obviously fall into slum, and no doubt will not gain success. All
the hardwork and endless patience as well as efforts to put down to make everything pssible
that gave way opportunities for us to improve the following culminating activities even better.

So far, one another upcoming culminating activity is on the way as the teacher reminds and
expect that flaws and undetailed mistakes will hopefully fixed as it was mor e beautiful and
impressive, as well as the ability to catch the attention of everyone.
Trends, Networks and Critical thinking in the 21st Century

One of the topics that we discussed in Trends, Networks, and Critical Thinking in the
21stCentury that also plays a role in our culminating activity is when we compared and contrast
the Filipino dresses then and now.
While the tradition of wearing Filipiniana during August may fade as we grow older, the
uniqueness, authenticity, and timelessness
of our traditional outfits are things that will
always be etched in our culture. You see
people cheering on and discussing
Philippine representatives for beauty
pageants and looking forward to what type
of twist she'll add in her national costume.
Seeing our senators in the Barong Tagalog is
also a way of preserving our culture
The clothing style and fashion sense
of the Filipinos in the modern-day era have
been influenced by their native ancestors,
the Spanish colonizers and the Americans, as
evidenced by the chronology of events that
occurred in Philippine history. At present,
Filipinos conform their way of dressing, in addition to the above factors, as a result of the
influence of what is shown by the media on television, fashion shows, among others.

Apart from colonial influences and media influence, the Filipino style of clothing had
been dictated by the climate in the Philippines. With a tropical climate (dry and rainy seasons),
early Filipinos – as well as the still extant tribal groups in the Philippines – wore colorful woven
clothes, often with intricate beadwork and other ornaments.
Present-day Filipinos, due to climatic reasons, prefer to wear T-shirts combined with
maong (jeans) trousers for men and skirts for women. The "jeans and T-shirts" combination was
introduced to the Filipinos by the Americans.
In addition to that, Americans and French people influences the Filipinos in the new
trends from clothing , foot wears and even in accessories.
In the end, there is nothing wrong in buying and costing a lot of money in buying
trends that influenced by colonials but we should always remember that we should appreciate
and recognized the greatness and uniqueness of our culture, the Filipino culture.
Philippine Politics and Governance

Before the culminating activity starts, different plans and suggestions were proposed in
the class with only one to be chosen. The class were governed by classroom officers most
notably the President, Vice President and Secretary. But to avoid the “tyrannical” way, the
theme was chosen through a
series of voting, the suggested
theme with the majority of votes
will be chosen.

Now the politics is how the

high ranking class officers
influence the class to finalize the
chosen theme, how the
culminating activity will run and how it will be organized and to coerce naughty classmates to
participate and cooperate so that they had a grade to be put on the tables. The power of leader
ship and management brought the activity with success, though it is not perfection. Contrary to
what many think, politics works not just in governments, it can happen to any group,
organizations, and other collectives. If you had the power to influence the people surrounding
you, with your interest, your will of what you’ve wanted it is considered politics.

Those high ranking class officers appeared to be satisfying as they did their responsibilities in
handling to make the culminating activity successful. Without their leadership, anything
couldn’t be possible and the culminating activity, which concluded successfully, might have
been ruined and interpreted awfully.

With the teacher sounds satisfied about her feedbacks about the outcome of the
culminating activity, she reminded that there were still some flaw presenting it. In relation to
poltics, one that the she advised is the organization of the event, cooperation makes it possible.
And that another culminating activity, which is more massive, publicized, and improved, is on
the way next month, our teacher reminded that improvements will compliment, shouldbe
revised to become more elegant, it is not an ordinary one, with that, it is expected to be well
organized, cooperated and with good leadership, no doubt it will impress the whole audience.
