DSPC 2019

Salawagan National High School participated in the Division Schools Press Conference in September 2019, where they ranked 3rd in the English category and 7th overall. Several SNHS students received individual honors, including Chairick Danielle Bracho who took 2nd place in editorial writing. Coaches Rosalina Alerta and Norberto Casama along with students Chairick Danielle Bracho and Arianne Gray Cero advanced to the Regional Schools Press Conference in October 2019, which was a three-day event involving divisions from across Region X. While the journey to become a champion requires significant effort, simply having the opportunity to represent one's school and division at these press conferences is an honor.

NARRATIVE REPORT ON DIVISION SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE

AND REGIONAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE

Every year the conduct of Schools Press Conference has been observed in
different areas of the country, this is to promote student’s awareness and enhance their
hidden talents in writing, in connection of the mandate Rule IV of Republic Act No.
7079, otherwise known as the Campus Journalism Act of 1991. In Division of Bukidnon,
the Schools Press Conference was held in Quezon National High School last
September 2019—wherein schools both from elementary and secondary were able to
participate.

Our school Salawagan National High School participated the event with four
coaches two for English Ma’am Rosalina Alerta and Sir Archimedes Casama, and also
two for Filipino Sir Donald Restauro and Sir Glen Ontoy, with them were 18 brilliant
students from different grade levels. Before the said activity, there was a training done
in the school. The participants were given several writing topics and guidance from the
coaches for them to be prepared. The most challenging task was to publish a school
paper because it was one of the requirements in joining the contest, but unity won that
time cause the school was able to produce one.

The results of the conference brought so much joy to the administration of the
school, the teachers, parents and of course the students of SNHS. The school ranked
3rd in English Category and 7 th place in the overall results of Division Schools Press
Conference, with the participant’s wit Chairick Danielle Bracho of Grade 12 got the 2 nd
place in Editorial Writing, Arianne Gray Cero got the 3 rd place in Science and Health
Feature Writing, Albim May Thalia Cuyos won the 5 th place, Mariella Ardon of Filipino
category in Sports got the 6 th place and also Sharlyn Majorinos was able to make it to
the 9th place in Science and Health Feature Writing in Filipino.

It was an overwhelming experience for everybody especially to the coaches

Rosalina Alerta and Norberto Casama who were qualified for the Regional Schools
Press Conference in Gingoog City Division. The two teachers went to Gingoog with their
young and active writers Chairick Danielle Bracho and Arianne Gray Cero last October
28-30, 2019 to participate in the said prestigious event. It was a 3-Day activity
participated by different divisions in Region X such as Ozamiz City, Iligan City,
Malaybalay City and many more.

The journey of becoming a champion or a winner in every contest will never be

easy. It takes a lot of effort, preparation, wit, confidence and passion to be considered
as the best among the rest, but the essence of representing your school, your division is
already a prize and an honor worthy to be treasured. The coaches as well as the
students were so grateful for the opportunity given to them. Undeniably, it made their
year 2019 worth remembering.
