“Product distribution: the basics”

In the document Distribution of products: basic, it clearly shows in a precise, short


and simple way how it should be and the guarantees involved in the correct choice
of the appropriate means of transport to avoid setbacks and to keep old customers
and acquire new ones.

The means of transport are those that allow the transfer from one place to another
as goods and people. These means can be land, air and sea.

The terrestrial means of transport are considered the most economic and used in
comparison with the others, but, besides presenting advantages also great
disadvantages with respect to delays of time and environmental damages except
for the railway transport; equally it presents load restrictions like weight, height and
length; they present two types: 1. Mail, which is very safe, often quite used for
cargoes, is light for short distances but somewhat expensive; air transport is the
fastest means of transport when products are transported over long distances
without worries about organization and smaller loads, but is still considered
expensive when charged: "Weight (kg), handling, fuel and risk surcharges,
customs and security fees, as well as duties and VAT". Finally, transport by sea is
considered somewhat slow, although compared to the above-mentioned means of
transport they are economical with respect to large-volume cargoes, it has
disadvantages since if some cities or countries do not have ports they must incur
greater costs when carrying out the transfers and others for minors on land.

Therefore, it is recommended to small and large establishments what to take into


account to transport their goods according to the type of goods they want to send
and by what means they want to do it; variables such as the type of product to
send, the budget, speed, delivery time, type of transport and risks are the main
characteristics to take into account and more if it is perishable products that are
going to be sent.
