G-Shock Time: 35 Years of Toughness

The document summarizes the origins and history of the G-SHOCK watch by Casio. It describes how Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe was inspired to create an unbreakable watch after his own watch broke. Over many prototypes and experiments dropping watches from windows, Ibe invented the first G-SHOCK watch in 1983 by suspending the watch module inside a resin case. The G-SHOCK became popular for its durability among military, workers and outdoors enthusiasts. After many specialized versions, the classic DW-5000 design remained popular. The document highlights the careful balance that goes into modern G-SHOCK design.
