PBL Reflection

Through a year-long project creating her high school yearbook, the student learned time management, personal responsibility, and collaboration skills. She took photos of classmates, learned to upload images to the yearbook website, and communicated with peers to contribute pictures. While challenging at times, especially when disagreeing with friends, the experience taught her that taking on new challenges can be rewarding and that hard work has long-term benefits.

Project-Based Learning Reflection

Class in which you did the project: Yearbook class.

Brief project description:

Through my whole senior year, creating the yearbook was a very big responsibility that I had to
take on. I had to take pictures of people, learn how to work a new website, and learn how to
transfer pictures from my phone, onto the computer.

Your role for the project:

Taking pictures of people from around my school.

What did you do, personally, to contribute to the overall project? Be specific!
I inserted pictures of people on a yearbook website, and communicated with my peers.

What did you learn about yourself in terms of time management, personal responsibility,
problem-solving, collaboration, or other soft skills via this project?

I learned that I'm not the best at working on a computer, I'm good at communicating with people,
although when my friend and I aren't getting along, it was a struggle.

If you had an industry expert or mentor who assisted with this project, what are some things that
you learned from this person?

That they work really hard.

How has this experience helped prepare you for college or careers beyond high school?

I learned that doing something new, and taking on a

challenge can be fun. Putting in a little more hard work really pays off in the long run.
