Production Engineer (Junior)
Job Description
The Production Engineer role is focused on supporting the engineering, production and quality
departments. The role requires an individual to pick up and resolve a variety of production
engineering issues, which will require a proactive and hands on approach to problem solving
and an ability to work with minimal supervision.
The role would suit an engineer with a mechanical engineering background, possibly a graduate
engineer with industrial/manufacturing experience, an ex-apprentice or a production engineer.
Main Duties
• Day to day production engineering and engineering change activities including
responsibility of ECN administration and implementation.
• Supporting the quality engineering function – liaising with engineers and
suppliers to overcome day to day product and quality issues.
• Investigation of issues and proposing solutions to the lead engineers and
Principal Production Engineer.
• Supporting the engineering department for NPI.
• Producing component and assembly drawings in 3D CAD.
• Prepare and issue BOM's to operations/production.
• Design production tooling for assembly aids/ fixtures.
• Liaise with internal departments and suppliers in order to produce reliable and
cost effective products that can be manufactured
• General engineering administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
• HNC or degree qualified in an Engineering discipline with 2+ years’ experience in
a manufacturing industry- Mechanical based but Electrical knowledge essential.
• Ability to understand geometric tolerancing for machined components and
fabrication.
• Experience, and the willingness to have a hands on approach
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical assemblies and electrical
layouts.
• Knowledge of 3D Solid Modelling design software (SolidWorks is mandatory)
and preferably 2D AutoCAD/Draftsight.

Desirable requirements
• Experience in quality engineering.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles/5S.
• Experience of MRP systems for stock control.
