I K S Log ( (Q1 + B) / (Q0 + B) ) / T: Fault Current Capacity of Copper Tape of 2.6 SQMM Area

The document provides a formula to calculate the fault current capacity of copper tape with a cross-sectional area of 2.6 sqmm. It applies the formula and calculates the fault current to be 1,002.86 A considering 3 cable cores. It then provides two options for the dimensions of the copper tape and calculates the weight and cost difference per meter of cable between the two options.

Fault current capacity of copper tape of 2.

6 sqmm area
Formula:
I2 = K2 * S2 *Loge {( Q1 + B) / (Q0 + B)} / T

Where
I= Fault current in A
T=Time duration of short circuit (fault current) in 1 Second(s)
K=Constant = 226 for Copper
S= Tape of Copper Tape Area in Sq. mm.
Q1 = Final temperature of Copper Tape = 200°C
Q0 = Initial temperature of Copper Tape = 80°C
B=Reciprocal of the temperature co-efficient of resistance of the Copper Tape/ °C at 0°c=234

Alternative calculation considering cross sectional area of Copper tape as

I2 = (226 2 x 2.6 2 x Loge {( 200+234)/(80+234)} /1

= (226 2 x 2.6 2 x Loge ( 434)/(314) /1

= (226 2 x 2.6 2 x Loge 1.382 /1

I2= 111748.39
I= 334.29

Total I 1,002.86 A considering 3 cores
