Criterion A: Planning
Defining the problem
My client is Mr. A.K. Goswami, who is an Indian Oil petrol pump dealer in
Kolkata, West Bengal. As a dealer he is responsible of an Indian Oil retail outlet.
The petrol pump deals with oil sales, car service, pollution and refilling of nitrogen
in the tyres.
Currently, The service of a car depends on ‘first come, first served’ and many
people who come to the petrol pump are unable to get the car service done at their
suitable time and have to wait in a queue. The petrol pump doesn’t have the facility
of accepting online car service booking which is an issue because customers have
to call the petrol pump office for booking a certain time of their convenience for
car service. Also, even if the customer decides to call the office in the petrol pump
and inform the manager, it is not feasible because the customer won’t be able to
reach the manager 24*7. To make the process of car service feasible, I decided to
create a website for car service booking which will allow a customer to book a slot
according to their choice in advance and they can also view the free time slots for
every day and switch to a free time slot if they want to change the previous
booking. A customer can choose the type of service they want and know the
particular pricing. The website will also allow a customer to use the customer
service chat on the website for any queries for a better understanding. Lastly, The
website will also send out reminder and follow-up notifications to customers.
