Detailed Lesson Plan in Physics For Grade 7 Students Speed and Velocity

The document provides a detailed lesson plan for a 7th grade physics lesson on speed and velocity. The objectives are for students to be able to describe motion in terms of speed and velocity. The lesson plan outlines preliminary activities like leading a prayer and reviewing past lessons. The main lesson will define speed and velocity, differentiate between them, and have students apply these concepts to analyze data from a prior group activity to determine who was fastest. Critical thinking skills will be developed.

Detailed Lesson Plan

In Physics for Grade 7 Students

Speed and Velocity
Prepared By: Leizl H. Moncada
Cooperating Teacher: Mrs. Marita Manguilimotan
I. Objective
At the end of this lesson, the learner’s should be able to:
 Describe the motion of an object in terms of Speed and Velocity
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Speed and Velocity
B. References:
Science Grade 7 K-12 learner’s Guide, Internet resources
Textbook: Grade 7 Science; Learner’s Material
C. Instructional Materials: Visual Aids
D. Value Integration: Patience, Determination
E. Science Concepts:
Speed is defined as distance travelled divided by the time of travel. Also, in describing
motion of an object, we do not just describe how fast the object moves. We also
consider the direction to where it is going. Speed with direction is referred to as velocity
F. Skills Processed: Defining, Differentiating, Critical thinking
III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
I
Good morning class? How was your day? Good morning ma’am. It was fine ma’am

That’s good to hear then. (Call a student) Please lead the prayer, (Learners are praying)
everyone please stand.
(After praying)
Good morning again class!
Before you sit please arrange your chairs properly, and pick up Good morning Ma’am Leizl
some pieces of paper. (Learners will do what the teacher say)
Who’s absent today? If there’s any absent, please remind me later.
So, I can record it okay? Yes ma’am

B. Review Lesson

Last meeting, you performed an activity with your group mates.

Okay class, did you find your activity hard? It was easy ma’am, but we’ve find hard in
analyzing the data .
And why is it? I thought it was easy because you said last meeting
that you’ve already understand my instructions for your activity .
Why is that?
Ohh it’s okay, at least you managed to make your activity done. So
yeah, let’s proceed. Last meeting, you have already reported your
group output and discussed the results in front of the class.
Now,
What have you noticed in your activity class?
Please get your ISN and open it.
Okay, as you can see in your ISN, in the teacher’s input, you have
there a guide question. This time, you will be answering that
following questions. The data that you have gathered in your
student output will serve as your guide. Understand? Yes ma’am

C. Lesson Proper

Class, remember the question asked was ‘How far did the object
travelled. Last meeting, we discussed and measure the path
travelled. We already know the concept of distance and
displacement. But today, we will proceed to the question ‘How fast
did the object move/travel.

So, from How far, we will go to How fast. Are we clear? Yes ma’am
Base from our last activity, in your group, Who can determine the
fastest among with your members?
To answer that question, please listen to me.

3. Discussion

To fully understand on who was really the fastest among with your
classmates,
