Activity 7 Ausubel (Deductive Reasoning)

The document provides explanations for two situations using deductive reasoning with "if...then" statements. The first situation explains that blowing into a balloon causes air particles to enter and build pressure, forcing the rubber walls to expand and making the balloon bigger. The second situation explains that hand sanitizers contain alcohol which evaporates quickly, absorbing heat from the skin and making hands feel cold.

Activity 7 Ausubel (Deductive Reasoning)

Use the If … then method to explain the situations below.

1. Why does a balloon get bigger when you blow it up?

If you blow the balloon up, the air particles from the lungs will flow into the balloon. If the
air particles flow into the balloon, then these air particles will hit the inside walls of the
balloon. If the air particles hit the inside walls of the balloon, then the collision of these air
particles with the walls will create a high-pressure environment inside the balloon relative to
the atmospheric pressure around it. If the air pressure is high enough, then it will force the
rubber of the balloon to expand. If the balloon expand, then it will get bigger.
2. Why do hand sanitizers make your hands feel cold?
If you use hand sanitizers, then your hands will contact with the alcohol in it. If there are
alcohol in the hand sanitizers, then it will have lower vaporization point of a liquid. If the
vaporization point of liquid is lower, then it will evaporates faster. If the liquid evaporates
faster, then the liquid will absorbs more heat from the body. If the liquid absorbs more heat
from the body, then this allows more heat to be removed from the surface of the skin. If
more heat are to be removed from surface of skin, then it will makes your hands feel cold.
