Activity #1: Writing Down My Insights and Coping Ways
Below are questions (adapted from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg website, 4/1/2020 )
to ‘hear how you are coping with these sudden changes, what you are learning about yourself and
advice you have for fellow students who are going through a similar situation.’⁷
Purposes:
Explore and write down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly.
Come into terms with self and with the situations to feel better.
What to do: Please answer the following questions:
How are you doing with all of these changes? How do you think and feel about
it?
I feel a bit claustrophobic/cramped at rare times since I haven’t been able to go
outside for a very long time.
What things have you found to work well and what has been most challenging
when it comes to finishing the previous semester online?
So far nothing has been working well in terms of education. The internet is not
stable, self-learning is ineffective and non-progressive, and quite frankly, the
activities given are not successful in delivering the learning that we are supposed
to received. All of these are most challenging for all of us.
What have you learned about yourself during this health crisis?
I learned more about my comfort level/zone and a general sense of
understanding myself.
Have you found any good ways to cope with all the current challenges?
I discovered that checking on myself and talking to my family/friends and
spending time with them helped me cope with the stress that I am currently
facing.
Do you have any advice for fellow students?
Take the time, even a little, to rest and relax the mind and body.
What’s the one thing you’re looking forward to once things are back to normal?
I look forward to learning better in school when things get better, since learning
by myself is quite a hard task, especially on subjects that are difficult to learn.
