Designing your Methodology
Your Next step: Designing your Methodology
Take some time to think about what specific Network Concept you want work with and WHY. Pick
only 3 specific once’s concept you want to test.
For example: I am going to work with TCP or OSPF you may need to look back to the people in
literature what are difficult for student what things find it difficult or made mistakes with.
Think about how you are going to structure it overall. For example , I’m going to have 3 different
simulation and compare that with the students doing programming and think about how many
groups you would have I suggest doing 4 group of 50 students which is good sample size to see the
pattern especially if you are doing the cross over study and you will get very solid result because you
are effectively doubling you’re the sample size every time. Think about where your different groups
is going to be, identify them for example , this group is doing HTTP with packet tracer and this group
is going to do HTTP with Wireshark etc , Think about what those group are.
In our Network course we have 280 students so you would not find a problem doing 4 groups with
50 students in each group.
For each of those topic areas I want to you to think about how are you going to test a Pre-test
Because usually pre test and post test are the same for example the post test this is what I want
from the students to learn and pre-test did they learn before the use the packet tracer so the pretest
don’t expect them to answer it completely that’s why per and post are important because it
measures the improvement.
To summaries :
1- 3 Concepts
2- Different Groups
3- Pre test and Post test for those concepts
If you can put those together as a first draft will be grate don’t stop reading if you find other things
keep reading for now I think you got enough you conceived that the answer isn’t there in the
literature and there is a flaws in the work.
