TEAM ASSIGNMENT

Regroup with your TECHNO 100 groupmates and answer the following questions with reference
to your project/research proposal in TECHNO 100.

1. Discuss how you conducted a needs assessment in determining your project/research

proposal.

A. Search for and identify the needs of our product.

Nowadays, everything is processed online because of the pandemic. We discussed that an

application is a good product idea especially at times like this. We noticed that students
are having a hard time applying and choosing for their preferred university especially
when universities are in Baguio and the students are from different provinces like
Bulacan, Pangasinan, Ilocos, etc. We decided to create “UniHunt”- an all-in-one app so
that students will no longer need to travel places or visit different websites just to get the
information of schools, financial assistance, internship/job information, etc. We
conducted a survey, and it was distributed to 3rd year COA students and most of our
respondents answered that they will use UniHunt if the application will be released.

B. Collect as much internal information as possible.

After choosing Unihunt, we have collected information about our application and
determined its most urgent needs. We conducted a micro-level research.

C. Gather data from outside areas.

We gather data here through attending seminars for TECHNO100 and lessons that were
taught by our instructor. We had learned about the Jamboard and Empathy Map. We also
conducted surveys using Facebook to gather information that we want to know.

D. Use the data you have gathered.

We define and identify the problem encountered by the future users of our app. We
created an empathy map and storyboard using the data from our presurvey result. We
ideate by making an Impact and Effort Matrix. We also created a prototype and lastly, we
made a survey to determine the estimated number of users who will use the UniHunt app
and website.

2. Create a business case of your research proposal.

A. Project Name

UniHunt

B. Problem

A lot of organizations and institutions offer different educational and job opportunities.
However, these information are dispersed and as a result, only a few individuals are
informed. Therefore, many Filipinos miss out on these opportunities and the hope of
ensuring a good future is delayed.

C. Solution

UniHunt is an application that pools educational opportunities in an all-in-one and go-to-

app/website for students. We plan to partner with different educational institutions,
companies, dormitories, and other organizations to provide a list of schools and
universities together with their information (tuition fees, available degree programs, etc.),
available scholarships in the Philippines and abroad, job and internship opportunities,
student loans, education events and workshops, and available dormitories near
universities.

D. Options Considered

Initially, we only thought of only having the feature where students can search and apply
for the university that they prefer via our app or website, but we decided to add additional
features namely: scholarships, dormitories, job offers/internships, review centers,
educational events and workshops, student loans and a student corner.

E. Benefits

The UniHunt application provides lots of benefits not only for its users but also to the
company itself. It aims to provide convenience to students in finding their dream
universities and provides various unique features that no other educational applications
have. Its benefit to the business involves customer loyalty as well as a wide range of
markets helpful for future possible projects.

G. Costs

Each of the owners of the business is to contribute an equal amount. Bank loans with
reasonable or low interest rates, and investments totaling 150,000 would also be needed
to pay for the companies’ necessities for the smooth operation of the business especially
for the first year. Our projection includes owners’ contribution totaling PHP 125,000 and
a loan of PHP 200,000. The fund will be used to fuel our business for a successful launch.
It will be used to buy necessary resources and pay for the necessary expenses. Resources
and expenses are those seen in the projection and other unexpected costs.

H. Expected Return on Investment

The projected profit (loss) is projected yearly, and total revenue is assumed to increase by
20% per year in relation to the sales plan thus, resulting in the projections shown in the
chart below.

I. Risks
The possible risks for this project mostly include the occurrence of the competitors
especially since there are a few competitors that have the same goals and features within
the same target market. The competitors/current alternatives of our business are found in
platforms such as Job portal websites, Partner’s Official Websites, Facebook,
Edukasyon.ph. These websites/applications have a feature similar to the feature of
UniHunt, thus deemed a competitor.

3. Create a benefit management plan for your research proposal.

A. Target benefit

Our business proposal is expected to achieve a certain number of subscribers and partners
which increases by 10% monthly. The assumption on the numbers of subscribers is based
on a survey conducted as to how willing the target market is in using our services and the
number of partners is based on the number of business establishments in Baguio, City.
Eventually, our market will grow, and we will also cater other provinces in the
Philippines. Initial cash flows are enough to bring profit to the business and will continue
to increase through the years. Financially, we expect that the business will give us a profit
of 230,565 for the first year, 312,333 for the 2nd year and 410,456 for the 3rd year of
operation.

B. Strategic Alignment

UniHunt’s strategic objective is to increase its net income every year thereby increasing
the owner’s wealth. To achieve these objectives, the company needs to either increase the
revenue by having more subscribers and partners or reducing the expenses. The benefits
derived from this project will achieve what was formerly stated, increase the revenue
through the increase in subscribers and partners. Through the increase in net income in
this project, the company will be able to see an improvement in its financial status and
the company.

C. Timeframe for realizing benefits.

After the product launch on January 3, 2022, benefits from the project will continuously
increase yearly. The financial projections show that every year after its product launch,
net income will increase. This is due to the increase in subscribers and partners. A month
after the product launch, there will be 200 subscribers and 500 partners primarily due to
extensive promotions done beforehand. Then, the following months subscribers and
partners will increase by 10%.

D. Benefits owner

Since our business is a partnership, the following owners are accountable to monitor,
record and report the realized benefits throughout the timeframe established in the plan.
a. Fritzy Estabillo
b. Genever Ngowepan
c. Mirko Herman Santillan
d. Wynette Krise Sili
e. Gianina Tanjuan
E. Metrics

The following metrics are used to measure the performance of the website and application. Each
metrics shall be computed and compared to the industry standard and/or past performance. The
website and application shall also be improved based on these metrics.

A. Website
● Number of Visitors- number of individuals who click on the site.
● Bounce Rate- ratio of the total number of visitors to those who have bounced (visitors
who have clicked the back button as realizing the information is not present)
● Average Pageviews per Session- shows how many pages of the website a visitor has
browsed.
● Session Duration- calculates how much time a visitor was active on the website.
● Average Time on Page- shows how much time is being spent on individual pages of the
website.
● Top Traffic Source- measures where visitors come from that directed them to the website.
● Device Source- measures what device types of visitors use to visit the website.
● Interactions per Visit- shows how visitors are moving across the website.
● Exit Pages- measures which pages visitors are abandoning on the website.

B. Application
● User Satisfaction / Apdex Scores- tracks the relative performance of an application.
● Average Response Time- measures the amount of time it takes to return the results of a
request by a user.
● Error Rates-measures the number of requests that result in an error compared to the total
number of requests.
● Request Rate- maximum rate at which users can send API Requests, an intermediary that
delivers a client's request to the server and then returns a response to the client.
● Application & Server CPU- monitors the CPU usage of the application.
● Application Availability- A simple HTTP check to measure application availability.

F. Assumptions

We assume that we already realized our benefits when our initial customers start to
spread and encourage others to use our application. This is because it will indicate that
there will be a higher chance of us getting the number of target customers we wanted to
achieve in order to reach our expected benefits. Another assumption is the willingness of
business establishments that would want to team up with us to be part of it.

G. Risks

Possible risks for the realization of the benefits are the expectations of the incoming
customers. If we will not meet their expectations, they might spread it to others causing a
lesser number of subscribers than our expected number and the other one is for the
potential partners. They might assume that they might get a high return.

To address these risks, we will focus on developing and improving our product in order
to meet the customers' needs and expectations and that way, we will still be able to
increase the number of subscribers and also make sure to give high returns on our new
partners.
