PROJECT IN UNDERSTANDING THE SELF

1. On a piece of bond paper, copy and print a bible verse which makes a special space in your
heart. You may also choose to write a quotation you love and live by. Use another piece of paper
to write your reflection about the bible verse or the quotation. i.e. how it inspires you, how are
you influenced by it, etc.
This verse became my major basis of life ever since. I was known as a jolly person,
talkative and sometimes, they even classify me ‘gay’ because I’m always voicing out my
expressions. Moreover, I believe that expressing negativity will not do anything but foster
despair and hopelessness in a certain environment. That’s the main reason why I always talk to
everyone just to splatter positivity and avoid people on my surroundings to continuously carry
their burden. However, I realized that there must be limitations. We all know that many people
will enjoy this kind of attitude but it is also inevitable for us to meet people who are so fragile or
doesn’t want to hear much from these kind of people. It might happen that people will hate you
because you’re just being naïve about other people’s feelings.
Additional realization that I got with this bible verse is that no matter what the situation
is, we should always give complements to other people. We all know that this simple
complement will let them feel cheerful even though there are so many problems they are
currently encountering on their lives.
2. On another sheet of paper, take a picture of any of your possessions and discuss briefly why
you value that possession and how it affects you
My emotions and hardships are vested into these things that’s why I can say that these
medals are part of my extracorporeal self. We all know that these days, some people say that it’s
so easy for today’s schooling to attain these kind of achievements. However, I know to myself
that these medals are fruit of my perseverance, dedication and hard work. Honestly, there was a
certain point in my life that I became not interested anymore with the medals. My thinking is that
“mabibili naman pala yan sa school supplies, bili na lang ako pamparami.” However, when we
discussed all about the material self, I realized that these are so important and I can classify as
part of my material self. I think that if someone throws it away, I may felt so much anger to that
people.

3. On a piece of bond paper, write a one-line statement of what you discovered about yourself
after attending the course UTS, Take a picture of you holding that piece of bond paper.
