Zhejiang Dahua Technology Corporation, Limited is a video surveillance solutions
company that mainly sells video surveillance products and services such as security
cameras, recorders, storage, etc. They are a publicly traded company which means that
the ownership of the company is organized via shares of its stock which are intended to
be freely traded on a stock exchange or in over-the-counter markets. Dahua is a
modern founded company, starting as recent as 2001, however their area of service has
drastically been influential as they are currently able to provide worldwide services to
anywhere in the globe Asia to Europe and the Americas. Their headquarters is located
at Zhejiang province, Hangzhou, China. Their mission is "Enabling a safer society and
smarter living" and that they would adhere to their core value of "customer-centered"
services in order to provide the market with excellent quality, to create more value for
customers and make unremitting effort to build a safe, intelligent, convenient and
efficient society. The main stakeholders and the official board members of the company
are as follows: Their Chairman and President Liquan Fu, The Vice Chairman of the
Board Jun Wu, and fellow directors Chao He, Siying Huang, Ailing Ling Chen and Zexia
Wang.
Relevance to the ECE program:
Zhejiang Dahua Technology Corporation, Limited or simply known as Dahua
Technology, is a world-leading video-centric smart Internet of Things or IoT solution and
service provider. Based on technological innovations, Dahua Technology offers end-to-
end security solutions, systems, and services to create values for city operations,
corporate management, and consumers. With more than 16,000 employees and over
50% engaged in Research and Development, Dahua Technology has solutions,
products, and services applied in 180 countries and regions. One of their main products
are security cameras such as network cameras, HDVCI cameras, PTZ cameras and

thermal cameras in which they develop the technology to properly capture the
appropriate footage requested for any given task. They are capable of being extremely
rugged and capture footage in incredible environments, whether intense heat, fog or
even in complete darkness. In line with the cameras, their other products are the
network recorders, video intercoms, transmission and other control that process the
data given by the cameras. Here, the research team mainly focuses on properly
converting the images captured by the camera into video files that are playable and
storable for the users. They device their own processors and other electronic equipment
to efficiently provide the utmost quality and reliability when providing for their customers.
And finally, with all that footage, they also create a place to store them all. Whether it be
their own hard drives or full on servers they have it all. They also provide cloud services
for their customers so that the security footage of their systems are automatically
backed up to Dahua's own servers so if the need to access them arises due to a failure
in the customer's side, it’s readily available. All throughout the company, from the
research and conception of their products, to their manufacture and production, and
through the compliance of all the services that the company should provide, the role of
ECE holds a substantial significance as everything that encompasses the company is
electronically-dependent. Accordingly, possible tasks that we may partake within the
country would be to further develop their devices through research and innovation,
monitor and oversee the production line of all their goods, and to be present in any
electronic issue that may bequeath the company.
Although it goes without saying that all the aforementioned commodities that the
company provide are also present in other high ranking companies and thus Dahua has
made it a goal for themselves to stand out by tackling other key technologies that will
further their development as firm and within the technological race to boot. One of the
stand out feature that Dahua is known for is their ANPR or Automatic number-plate
recognition in which is uses optical character recognition on images to read vehicle
registration plates. This is especially useful for road safety enforcement, law
enforcement, parking guides, etc. Rapid technological developments have allowed
Dahua to enable camera-side integration which improves efficiency and security in
different solutions. Another key technological feature that Dahua products have is what
they call Predictive Focus Algorithm of PFA. This technology provides a method to
achieve continuous, high-precision focus during the entire zooming process. This
ensures clarity, eliminates shaking and shortens focus time throughout the process of
zooming. And finally one of Dahua's patented in-house technology, High Definition
Composite Video Interface or HDVCI. It is an over-coaxial cable video standard that
enables long-distance HD video transmission over a wide range of application scenarios
at a friendly cost. With 4K ultra high definition resolution, it presents a true-to-life image
with impressive clarity that captures even the tiniest of details. In addition this feature
guarantees long-distance transmission in real-time without any signal loss as presented
in their test laboratories. Nevertheless, as with before ECE still plays a major role within
the application of these key technological features that Dahua boasts as we indefinitely
are the key pillar in providing technical support upon their research and procurement.

Remarks:
As a method long been proven to help in solving crime and alleviating any
mystery and problems crime has caused, Video surveillance technology really is one of
the things that most people tend to not notice a lot. CCTVs have captured vital scenes
that proved to be a crucial step in resolving countless felonies, serving as evidence
against these acts of violence and contributing to law enforcement. And usually, when
you begin looking into the market for CCTV, amongst many companies, you will see
Dahua. Although they are a company of only 20 years in age in the industry, their
products speak for themselves as the quality are top notch yet the price are not too
overwhelming. Furthermore, what’s astounding about Dahua is the fact that they make
their own products from the ground up. The electronics from the Chips, processing units
and Circuit boards, to the sensors for their cameras and storage drives – all designed
and manufactured by Dahua. These are all what catches my interest about this
company.
