Connection to CS8C via FTP Client Software
1. Connect to the controller
i. Connect directly between the controller and PC with a crossover cable. Connect
“indirectly” over a network with a standard Ethernet cable.
ii. Determine the controller’s IP via the teach pendant under Control
Panel>Controller Configuration>Network. Highlight the port currently plugged in
to (J204 or J205) and press Enter to see the IP and Subnet Mask.
iii. Change the PC’s IP address to static and match the first three octets of the
controller IP and match the subnet mask.
iv. Check the connection by using the “ping” command in the command prompt.
2. FTP Connection with FileZilla
a. Create a new site in the Site Manager (File>Site Manager).
b. Use the following settings under the General tab:
i. Host = IP of controller
ii. Protocol = FTP
iii. Encryption = Use plain FTP
iv. Logon Type = Normal
v. User = maintenance
vi. Password: spec_cal
c. Use the following settings under the Advanced tab:
i. Bypass proxy = checked
ii. Default remote directoy = “/log” or “/sys” or “/usr”
d. Click “Connect”.
e. The directory is now accessible
3. FTP Connection with FTP Surfer
a. Create a new site profile (File>New>Site Profile).
b. Use the following parameters under the General tab:
i. Address = IP address of controller
ii. User name = maintenance
iii. Password = spec_cal
iv. Explore from = (drop down to “User Defined” then type) “/log” or “/usr” or
“/sys”
c. Click OK to create the new profile. Double click the profile in the left hand pane and the
directory contents will appear in the central window.
