Prerequisites
A Phillips torque screwdriver is ready for installing the EMUB.
Context
l An EMUB requires 1 U space, and it can be installed in a 19-inch rack with a depth of
over 120 mm (4.72 in.) or the 19-inch space with a depth of over 120 mm (4.72 in.) that
is reserved in a cabinet.
Procedure
l Optional: The DIP switch needs to be set for a CDMA base station.
a. Use an M3 Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws from the cover plate on
the rear of the EMUB and open the cover plate, as shown in the following figure.
l Optional: Perform the following operations to install an EMUB in a 19-inch rack or the
19-inch space reserved in a cabinet.
a. Align the holes on the cable claws with the holes on the mounting ears on both
sides of the EMUB, and stick the cable claws onto both sides of the EMUB, as
shown in the following figure.
b. Install the EMUB in a 19-inch rack or the 19-inch space reserved in a cabinet, and
use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the four screws on the cover plate to 2 N·m
(17.70 lbf·in.), as shown in the following figure.
b. Press the assembled EMUB against the wall horizontally, and mark the positions of
four installation holes on the attachment plates.
c. Use the hammer drill with a Ф8 drill bit to drill holes at the marked positions.
d. Use four M6 expansion bolts to secure the EMUB onto the wall with a torque of 3
N·m (26.55 lbf·in.), as shown in the following figure.
Context
l Protect the probe of the water sensor from touching the chloride liquid.
l Do not open the housing of the water sensor to avoid damage to the sensor.

Step 2 Align the four protrusions on the base with the four grooves in the probe, and push the probe
until the four protrusions are in close contact with the four grooves.
Step 3 After the base and probe are installed, secure the probe onto the cabinet by using the magnetic
steel.
Step 4 Open the base of the smoke sensor, and install cables for the smoke sensor, as shown in the
following figure.
A smoke sensor uses a 2-core shielded twisted pair (STP) cable. Connect the smoke sensor
and EMUB using an STP cable according to the following table.

Context
l Exercise care when moving the box cover and the circuit board and connecting cables to
avoid damage to the humidity/temperature sensor. Wear ESD gloves and hold both sides of
a circuit board to move the circuit board. During the removement, do not touch the
components on the circuit board. After the removement, place the circuit board in an ESD
bag.
l The humidity and temperature sensor must be checked every year. If the precision of the
sensor is too low, replace it with a new one.
The requirements for installing a humidity and temperature sensor are as follows:
l In most cases, a humidity and temperature sensor is installed on a wall and at a height of
about 1.5 m (4.92 ft) above the ground.
l A humidity and temperature sensor must be installed in a position with good ventilation.
The recommended airflow speed ranges from 0.1 m/s to 1 m/s.
– A humidity and temperature sensor cannot be installed in a position with little or no
airflow.
– A humidity and temperature sensor cannot be installed in a position with high-rate
airflow, for example, the position close to the air vent of the equipment room or the
air conditioner.
l Do not install the humidity and temperature sensor in the following positions:
– Positions without an air conditioner
– Positions with the relative humidity constantly greater than 90%
– Positions with the temperature lower than -20°C (-4°F)
– Positions that can be blown by the wind from the air cooling machine or air heating
machine
– Positions with air pollution by substances, such as sour gases and oily gases
l A humidity and temperature sensor must be installed away from the cable trough.
l The plane for installing a humidity and temperature sensor must be clean.
l A humidity and temperature sensor must be powered off when it is installed or replaced.
l Holes should not be drilled around a humidity and temperature sensor after the sensor is
installed to protect the sensor from dust. If you must drill holes around the sensor,
appropriate protection measures must be taken for the sensor.
l The humidity-sensitive components on the humidity and temperature sensor should not
be touched.
Procedure
Step 1 Install a humidity and temperature sensor.
1. Remove the backplane on the humidity and temperature sensor, and then mark the
positions on the wall according to the three installation holes in the backplane.
2. Use a hammer drill to drill holes according to the marks.
3. Insert the plastic expansion tubes into the holes.
4. Use tapping screws to secure the backplane onto the wall.
5. Secure the humidity and temperature sensor onto the backplane.
Step 2 Install cables for a humidity and temperature sensor, as shown in the following figure.
NOTE
The colors of cables in the following figure are used as examples. For the actual mapping between the
functions and colors of cables, see the specifications of the water sensor.
A humidity and temperature sensor uses a 4-core shielded twisted pair (STP) cable. Connect
the humidity and temperature sensor and EMUB using an STP cable according to the
following table.

Context
l When moving and installing a fuel level sensor, avoid collisions with other objects to
ensure good performance of circuit.
l Do not touch the isolation film at the pressure entrance of the transformer.
l Ensure that the electrical connections comply with connection specifications.
l Clean the probe of the sensor periodically to prevent the pressure entrance from being
blocked.
l Ensure that the air-conducting cable is intact during the installation. The waterproofed air-
conducting cable is specified.
l Ensure that the air-conducting tube in the air-conducting cable is unblocked and that the
cable is neatly wrapped with the circle diameter greater than 120 mm (4.72 in.).
Procedure
Step 1 Place a fuel level sensor in a fuel tank.

Procedure
Step 1 Perform power-on check for the EMUB.
1. Check whether the EMUB power cables, signal cables, and alarm cables are properly
connected.
2. Turn on the EMUB circuit breakers to power on the EMUB.
3. Check the status of the indicators on the EMUB to determine whether the EMUB is
working properly. If the EMUB is working properly, the RUN indicator is blinking green
(on for 1s and off for 1s), and the ALM indicator is steady off. If the status of either
indicator is abnormal, troubleshoot the faults according to the instructions in 1.7
Troubleshooting Common Faults.
Step 2 Perform the communication check for the EMUB.
Log in to the U2000, and run related MML commands to query the configurations of the
EMUB. For details about MML commands and their functions, see MML Command
Reference.
l Run the MML command ADD EMU or MOD EMU to set the number of alarms for the
EMUB according to the instructions in MML Command Reference. If the number is set to
an inappropriate value, an alarm will be reported.
l If the level of an alarm of the EMUB is incorrectly configured or the upper and lower
thresholds for the number of the analog signals are set to inappropriate values, alarms may
be reported by mistakes. The following figure shows the Boolean signal levels of the water
sensor, smoke sensor, infrared sensor, and door status sensor for the EMUB when cables
are disconnected from the ports, no alarm is generated, and an alarm is generated. As listed
in the following table, water sensor, smoke sensor, infrared sensor, and door status sensor
are set to OFF, ON, OFF, and ON, respectively. After a sensor is powered on, if the sensor
is disconnected from cables and the host does not deliver the alarm level configurations for
Boolean signals within three minutes, the EMUB reports an infrared alarm and door status
alarm.
