Shaft Sizing and Design

The document details specifications for 608ZZ steel bearings, including dimensions and materials used. It calculates the maximum speed a shaft can rotate, resulting in a theoretical travel speed of 315 km/h or approximately 196 mph. The conclusion emphasizes that the bearings are designed to safely operate at speeds below 43,000 rpm according to ABEC 7 standards.

Shaft Sizing and Design

Type: 608ZZ steel bearings

Bearing number: 608
Bore (the hole in the middle): d = 8 mm
Outside diameter: D=22 mm
Width = 7 mm
Material: Silicon nitride (ceramic) balls
ISO 492: class 4
Tolerance of Abec7 skateboard bearing: 7.996 to 8.0 mm.
Maximum accentricity: 0.0025 mm
Diameter wheel: 40 mm
Shaft rotate at max speed in grease: 42000 rpm

Calculation:
1 revolution = 40 x 3.14 = 125 mm of travel (roughly)
a wheel travels in 1 hour: 42000 x 60 x 125 = 315,000,000 mm
So, 315 km/h convert into roughly 196 mph

Conclusion: Max number of rpm's each is meant to safely work at ABEC 7 less than
43000 rpm
