Destination Imagination Script

The script describes a scene from the moon landing where two boys act out Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin collecting rock samples and planting the American flag. However, when the director yells "Cut!" they discover the cameraman accidentally used black and white film. After finding color film, they repeat the scene. At the end, Neil poses for a movie poster photo as the script concludes.

Destination Imagination Script: The Moon Landing

*Spaceship is carried onto stage by Carter and Ethan

Neil/Carter steps out first

Neil/Carter: “That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

Buzz/Ethan comes out after Neil/Carter

Buzz/Ethan: “Finally, after 3 days cramped in that shuttle we’re finally on the moon!”

Neil/Carter: “We have to take rock samples, mark our spot, and get off the moon. We have quite
limited time. You go grab the rock container, I’ll grab the flag.”

Both boys go back behind the spaceship. Neil/Carter comes out with the flag and plants it in the
stand. Next Buzz/Ethan comes out with the rock container. Both bend over and begin filling the
rock container with rocks.

Buzz/Ethan hops over to the Spaceship: “hippity hoppity, hippity hoppity, hippty hoppity, over
hill, over dale, da da da da da da da da da.”

Buzz/Ethan stops just in front of the spaceship: “I can’t believe how light everything is on the
moon, imagine playing baseball up here!”

Buzz/Ethan goes into the Spaceship and comes out with the whiffle ball bat. He throws up a
“rock” and hits it with the bat. The rock hits the space shuttle.

Neil/Carter: “Buzz! You’re going to damage the ship if you keep doing that. And why did you
bring a baseball bat into space?””

Buzz/Ethan:”Do you mean to tell me you never wondered what it would be like to play baseball
in space?!”

Neil/Carter: “Good point” “But be careful. Don’t break the ship!”

Buzz/Ethan: “Ah it’s fine. Nothing happened to the ship, don’t worry” *

Director and Cameraman walk into view.

Director: “Cut!”

Cameraman/Bryan “Sorry guys, I accidentally used black and white film. We wanted color. Give
me a minute to find the color film”

Director/Cole “Okay guys, take five and get ready to repeat the scene”
Cameraman/Bryan steps toward the audience and fumbles to find the colored film in his bag.

Neil/Carter goes and sits in his chair and plays with his Rubik's cube.

Ethan and Cole discreetly change the scenery from black and white to color.

Cameraman/Bryan finds the color film and Cole comes back as Director.

Director/Cole: “Okay guys, take your places.

Buzz/Ethan grabs the flag and takes his place behind the spaceship.
Neil/Carter stays at the chair playing with the Rubik’s cube.

Director/Cole: “Action”

Neil/Carter continues to sit and play with the Rubik’s cube

Director/Cole: “I said action!”

Neil/Carter jumps, startled, and puts down the Rubik’s cube. Neil/Carter takes his place behind
the spaceship.

**first scene is repeated**

Neil/Carter goes to the spaceship and gets the radio

Neil/Carter: “Apollo to Houston, come in, Houston.”

Bryan, from behind the scenes “Houston here”

Neil/Carter: “You wouldn’t believe the amazing view from up here! The earth looks like a blue
marble”

Buzz/Ethan: “This is amazing!” We have made history and we will be in books all around the
world! Our kids and grandkids will read about us!”

Houston/Bryan: “Gentleman, get back to the shuttle, it's time to leave.”

Neil/Carter: “Buzz, lets go, It’s time to head back home”

Buzz/Ethan: “Aw, man”

Neil/Carter, into radio: “Apollo to Houston, do we have permission to leave?”

Bryan/Houston: “Launch failure”

Neil/Carter: “Oh no! You must’ve damaged the ship when you hit it with the rock”

Buzz/Ethan: “Whoops! I’m sorry about that. Let's go fix it.”

Neil/Carter and Buzz/Ethan start fixing the shuttle.

Neil/Carter: “pass me the wrench and the hammer please”

The two fix the spaceship and climb inside.

Director/Cole: “Cut!”

Everybody enters the stage

Director/Cole: “Great job today guys. Filming will start tomorrow morning, 8am on the dot,
don’t be late. Buzz, you can leave for the day. Neil, stick around. We need to get the perfect shot
for the movie poster”

Neil/Carter: “Let’s just keep it simple. Me and my flag! How’s this?”

Neil/Carter poses near the flag.

Cameraman/Bryan: “Perfect, stay just like that!”

Cameraman/Bryan takes the picture.
