HR: Good day, Ms. Tan! Have a seat.
Applicant: Good day ma’am! Thank you.
HR: So how have you been lately? Is this your first job or have you worked somewhere
else before?
Applicant: I’m very good actually ma’am, having been given this opportunity to work in
this company is beyond amazing! I was a manager for XX Hotel and now they dispatched
me to your company because it is in need of my services.
HR: That’s nice to hear! So let’s start your interview. State your name and your recent
job.
Applicant: I am Pauline Tan, I was a manager in housekeeping at a hotel.
HR: So why do you think you deserve this job?
Applicant: I have been dealing with a lot issues at my work and I have dealt it with great
pressure. I believe that my experiences and my knowledge is enough for this position.
HR: What makes you different from all of the applicants here?
Applicant: I have experience and I am open to learn more. I believe that I am a persistent
human being. I don’t give up easily.
HR: Oh, I see. With that being said, how will you handle a rude person? I am sure you
have encountered some on your previous job.
Applicant: I have met and handled them a lot ma’am and one thing I like to do is to smile
because smiling reminds me of staying calm and being polite. Patience is required in our
work environment, we have to deal with different people. So I have to be bigger than
their emotions. I will not let my emotions intervene.
HR: That’s a good answer. Moving on, what kind of people do you find difficult or easy
to work with?
Applicant: Everyone is difficult and easy to work with if they feel good then it follows.
Sometimes some people just really changes when a situation occur. We are all different
when we face different circumstances.
HR: Precisely. Last question, how can you handle pressure?
Applicant: I smile! Smiling makes me feel good. Whenever I smile, it’s like everything is
okay and will be okay. It reminds me to be calm and happy because I have progress. I
can’t feel accomplishment when I don’t feel pressure, uneasiness, and frustration because
it will be good at the end of the day but I don’t put it in my work cuz that would just slow
me down from accomplishing my work.
HR: Well done Ms. Tan! You did great. We’ll send the results tomorrow.
Applicant: Thank you ma’am, I’ll be waiting. Have a nice day!
Thoughts: For the interviewer, he/ she needs to be thorough with his questions to get to
know the applicant better and to know if he/she us the suitable person for the job. For the
applicant, smiling, being polite and presentable is a must for a great first impression.
Furthermore, he/she needs to be true to him/herself and answer the questions with
honesty because after all, it will reflect on his/her performance.
