COMPLETING THE

3 CABIN LOADSHEET
Pilot Self-Brief

Jan 2015 Rev 0.0

COMPLETING THE 3 CABIN LOADSHEET

The purpose of this presentation is to provide some guidance only on

the topic. It should be viewed in conjunction with the appropriate
approved publications.

This presentation does not replace any official and more detailed
information contained in the Ryanair Operations Manuals, Boeing
FCOM’s, Boeing FCTM or other official, approved publications.

Where any conflict arises between this guidance and the contents of
official publications, then the information contained in the official
publications takes precedence.
COMPLETING THE 3 CABIN LOADSHEET

The Ryanair B737-800 cabin configuration is

designed by Boeing with an interior arrangement
of 3 passenger cabin zones. FWD
Rows 1 - 5 FWD
This 3 cabin zone Ryanair Loading Schedule 27 pax
allows for all assigned seating in the cabin.

The objective of this presentation is to familiarise

flight crew with the 3 cabin zone loadsheet.
Actual loadsheet completion during line MID
operations will differ due to the involvement of the Rows 6 - 28 MID
dispatcher in the process. 132 pax

3 CABIN LOADSHEET

This presentation concentrates on the

74,990kg MTOW Flex Weight Loadsheet.

Other loadsheets may be provided for

specific aircraft fleets (e.g. 77990kg
MTOW, leased aircraft); different
completion requirements will be published
in the Load Control Manual.

Primary Reference: 74990kgs Flex Weight Loadsheet

latest revision of Ryanair Load Control
Manual available on Crewdock

4
FEATURES OF THE 3 CABIN LOADSHEET

The passenger load is distributed in

the 3 cabin zones FWD, MID, AFT
according to the passenger booking
system.
Numbers of adults and children are
added to give the passenger load

Later, a loadsheet adjustment is

made to correct for the reduced
child weight.

5
FEATURES OF THE 3 CABIN LOADSHEET

Separate adjusted weight tables are provided on the reverse of

the loadsheet for passengers in the FWD, MID and AFT cabin
zones, and for bags in the holds....
....and for the required child weight reduction. Child weights
have no trim influence.
TAKEOFF WEIGHTS

1. ATOW – Actual Takeoff Weight

2. MTOW – Max Structural Takeoff Weight

3. RTOW – Regulated Takeoff Weight

TAKEOFF WEIGHTS

1. ATOW – Actual Takeoff Weight

 Total aircraft weight for TO including crew, passengers,

freight, fuel
 Determined on loadsheet
 ATOW must not exceed MTOW and RTOW
TAKEOFF WEIGHTS

1. ATOW – Actual Takeoff Weight

2. MTOW – Max Structural Takeoff Weight
 Ryanair uses a Variable MTOW system. All aircraft belong
to the appropriate fleet:
Fleet A Fleet B
• 74,990kg
• 69,990kg • 69,990kg
• 66,990kg • 66,990kg
 Cpt ensures aircraft MTOW is suitable for each takeoff
 Selected MTOW is ≥ATOW
 Use lowest MTOW possible for ATOW
 Aircraft MTOW is changed by engineering/Cpt
TAKEOFF WEIGHTS

1. ATOW – Actual Takeoff Weight

2. MTOW – Max Structural Takeoff Weight
3. RTOW - Max Regulated Takeoff Weight
 Maximum permitted weight for takeoff
 Takes into account runway, performance limitations,
rwy surface condition, wind, temperature, pressure,
flap, engine thrust
 Must be calculated for every takeoff using RTOW
booklet or OPT
 RTOW must be ≥ ATOW
WHY DO WE NEED A LOADSHEET?

1. To ensure certified weight & balance limits are not exceeded, and aircraft is
correctly loaded for takeoff and landing.

2. To determine takeoff stabilizer trim setting.

3. To ensure adequate aircraft performance (takeoff, climb, V1MCG), manoeuvre

capability, stall margin, tail clearance, etc.
WHAT ARE “ADJUSTED WEIGHTS”?

Ryanair uses an Adjusted Weight loading system.

The weights of all items loaded onto the aircraft (e.g. fuel, pax, bags, etc) are ‘adjusted’ to
account for their effect on the balance of the aircraft.

Adjusted weights ALWAYS have a decimal point and decimal number – the 2 digits either side
of the decimal point are used as balance units to provide trim information.
e.g. Fuel Weight = 15760 kg
Adjusted Fuel Weight = 15760.2 kg

In this case, 0.2 represents the trim change created by adding 15760kg fuel weight to the
aircraft tanks.

Appropriate adjusted weight charts must be used to determine adjusted weights of pax, bags,
fuel, etc.
HOW IS THE ADJUSTED WEIGHT
OF THE AIRCRAFT CALCULATED?
1. The aircraft is weighed on leaving the factory (e.g. Basic Empty Weight = 41300.0kg)

2. The Stabilizer Trim Setting at the Basic Empty Weight is determined (e.g. 5.3)

3. Add 1 & 2 to give the ADJUSTED Basic Empty Weight (e.g. 41305.3)

4. To this are added adjusted weights of crew, crew bags and standard galleys to give the
Adjusted APS Weight (APS = Aircraft Prepared for Service).
DETERMINING TAKEOFF STABILIZER TRIM
SETTING ON THE LOADSHEET

The starting point on the loadsheet is the aircraft’s

Adjusted APS Weight.

To this are added Adjusted Weights of pax, bags,

fuel, extra crew, extra galleys, etc, to give the
Adjusted Takeoff Weight.

The last 2 digits of the Adjusted Takeoff Weight are

the uncorrected stabilizer trim setting for takeoff.

Example: Adjusted TOW = 64575.7

stabilizer trim setting for T/O = 5.7(uncorrected)

Uncorrected Stab Trim must be corrected to

determine the Takeoff Stabilizer Trim setting.
FLEET WEIGHT SCHEDULE

The Adjusted APS Weight for each aircraft can be

found in the Fleet Weight Schedule. The Fleet
Weight Schedule is regularly published on Crewdock.

Ryanair publishes Fleet Weight Schedules as

necessary, e.g.:-
Fleet A = flex MTOW aircraft (66990/69990)
Fleet B = flex MTOW aircraft (66990/69990/74990)
Fleet C = fixed MTOW aircraft (77990)

The example Fleet Weight Schedule shown is for

Fleet B aircraft; it also shows Max Takeoff Weights,
Maximum Zero Fuel Weight and Maximum
Landing Weight, as well as other operation weight
changes.

Example: EI-EKG has an Adjusted APS Weight of

42545.6. This is the Standard Adjusted APS Weight.

Some aircraft (shaded grey) do not comply with the

Standard APS Weight; they have different Adj APS
Weights e.g. EI-EFG 42545.7.

Fuel data is given on the LIDO flight plan. For the
loadsheet the taxi fuel figure given is rounded down
to the nearest 10kg (e.g. 156 becomes 150kg).

Taxi Fuel = 150kg, so:-

ADJUSTED FUEL WEIGHT TABLES

Adjusted Fuel Weight tables are located in

Annex 7 of the Load Control Manual (available
on Crewdock).
Use to determine an Adjusted Fuel Weight
from an Actual Fuel Weight.

BAGGAGE LOADING POLICY
B737-800 SCHEDULED FLIGHTS – Flex MTOW up to 74990
It is Ryanair policy to load passenger bags according to the following
sequence/schedule, subject to load & trim limitations:-
FWD HOLD 2: 160 bags
FWD HOLD 1: 30 bags
AFT HOLD 3: Remainder
AFT HOLD 4: Over-spill from hold 3
i.e.“190 bags up front - remainder down the back”
Freight should be loaded in Aft Hold 3, space permitting. It must not delay the aircraft.

It is acceptable to load FWD Hold 1 with fragile items e.g. prams/buggies and
other bags for ease of loading prior to reaching 160 bags in FWD Hold 2,
provided the loadsheet correctly reflects these bags loaded in FWD Hold 1.

Subject to load, the cabin is restricted to 90 cabin bags.
Cabin bags >90 are tagged and carried for free in the 110 1 4 3 0 6
hold – FGB = FREE GATE BAGS. 11 1 4 0 0

A trim adjustment is made on the loadsheet to account FGB TRIM ADJ + 0 1

for these bags moved to the hold. (A weight adjustment
is not required as a standard passenger weight includes
the weight of a cabin bag.)
To determine FGB trim adjustment, take half the number
of FGB’s, round up to whole number, and use the
appropriate Hold Adjusted Weight chart to determine
trim change for that number of bags.
For example, there are 23 FGB’s loaded in Fwd Hold 2.
23 FGB’s divided by 2 = 11½
Round up to whole number = 12

RESOLVING OUT-OF-TRIM CONDITIONS
In our example, a trim change of (7.4 – 6.6 =) -0.8 is necessary to get in trim.
To achieve this, go from 3 pax in aft cabin with a trim of 9.9 (249.9) to a number of pax PAX
that has a trim of 9.1. The chart shows18 pax in the aft cabin has trim 1509.1. This will
provide the required -0.8 trim change.
Therefore, moving 15 passengers from MID to AFT cabin will provide the required trim FWD
change. move pax
