Is science- a boom or a curse?

In this age of rocket and space research, science has made a remarkable contribution to explore
the depths of the universe. Because of science mankind can travel to any part in our solar system.
We can come to know the temperature and the atmospheric conditions on any planet in our solar
system.

One of our most important instrument used to explore the universe is the telescope. The most
powerful telescope in the universe is the HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE. Science in the field of
medicine has also progressed to great heights. Prior to the different improvements and
discoveries, people in the villages and cities did not know how to cure the diseases and they even
did not know the name of the disease, but subsequent to the discoveries, we people know which
disease we have got and can cure it before it gets fatal. With science improving to great heights
in technology like computers, the different modes of travelling, weather forecasting and many
more help us in our day to day life. Computers have helped us for a long time to do work,
communicate with others by e-mail and so on. Further on in future computers can also be our
teachers. The different modes of travelling like cars, buses, helicopters and aero plane have made
our life much easier. Prior to the innovations that made helicopters and aero planes. The people
in the villages could not travel overseas and could not o away to far off places. Then came the
helicopters and aero planes which made our life much easier. In future people can use levitation
as a mode of transport. The modern weather forecasting is also improved. Now people come to
know if any storm of natural calamity occurs before an hour or two. In olden times people came
to know if a storm was going to occur just before five or ten minutes and they could not save
themselves from the disaster. There are also bad things about the development of science. When
new cars are made in a company, the workers of the company are using a huge amount of steel,
iron and other different fabrics and metals. The need for new raw materials is also increased. The
cars as well as the factories emit harmful gases like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide create
holes in the ozone layer. The holes let the harmful ultra violet radiations of the sun pass through.
These radiations can cause skin cancer and other eye diseases. The harmful gases given out by
factories combine with the water vapour in the air to form acid rain. When the acid rain falls
down on the surface of the earth it causes damage to the crops, causes irritation to the eyes and
skin of animals and human beings and also harms buildings. Due to the improvements in
technology there is an enormous amount of waste generated worldwide from each and every
school, factory, house, industry and other establishment. The different types of waste generated
are agricultural waste, domestic waste, commercial waste and industrial waste. The Americans
were the first to use nuclear missiles. They launched them on two Japanese cities and the impact
of that blast is still felt today.

This essay can conclude to you the facts that science has boons as well as curses. The
development of science is good but that does not mean that it is not bad.
