1. We know that using netiquette online is important, but why? What are the consequences
of bad netiquette in the classroom? In your response, be sure to reflect on how it feels to
be addressed with bad netiquette, and how you think others feel.
Answer
It is known that netiquette is an online or network etiquette mostly done by students and other
formal learning platforms. This is a governing rule for online communication of such a learning
platform. Therefore, we should be more courteous and respectful when we communicate online.
There are misunderstandings and or miscommunications among students when they give
feedback or comment on their peers’ online classes. This could be due to cultural and language
differences since words or phrases have different meanings in different languages and cultures.
This can create bad communication and feel for those who receive such comments from their
peer. For this reason, there could be bad consequences like a bad replay or even insults from
their peer in response to their action. On the other hand, the one who gives bad feedback may
regret her/his bad feedback that hurts others.
2. How does netiquette relate to peer assessment? Why is it important to use good manners
when leaving feedback?
Answer
Netiquette is online ethics of communication on a learning platform. Peer assessment is a way of
giving and receiving feedback on peer learning which is also a way of communication among
peers. Therefore, it is very important to be ethical and respectful when giving feedback.
3. How do you feel about the feedback you received this week? What about the feedback
you gave?
Up to now, I haven’t received any bad feedback and I am happy with that. I got constructive and
corrective feedback from my peers. I also didn’t feel bad even if I receive bad feedback since I
consider it as part of learning. I believe that I give polite and respectful feedback to my peers and
I haven’t gotten any criticism from them up to now.
