INTRODUCTION
An observation is generally done in a classroom to ensure that the teacher is using the proper
teaching methods and that the students are learning in the best possible environment.

A checklist consists of a listing of steps , activities or behavior which the observer records when
an incident occurs.

DEFINITION
An observation checklist is a list of questions that an observer will be looking to answer when
they are doing a specific observation of a classroom.

SUGGESTION TO FOLLOW WHILE USING CHECKLIST


1. Checklist should relate directly to learning objectives.

2. Use checklist only when you are interested in ascertaining whether a particular trait or
characteristic is present or absent.

3. Clearly specify the traits or characteristics to be observed.

4. Have a separate checklist for each student.

5. The observer must be trained how to observe , what to observe and how to record the observed
behavior.

6. Multiple observations provide a more accurate assessment of performance than a single


observation

7. Student should be evaluated in the natural setting or closely as possible to real situation.

8. completed checklist should be given to each student discuss the strength and weakness of
the performance and formulate the plan to importance performance.
