CrypTA – Quick Start Guide
Please read this Quick Start Guide before using your CrypTA USB Dongle for the first time.
1. Make sure you have received an email from no-reply.crypta with the subject “CrypTA certificate
request accepted“, which contains your personal initialization data.
2. Download the latest CrypTA Client from the following link:

3. Run the downloaded file “CrypTAInstaller_download.exe” to install all needed software on your
computer. You do not need to change the settings. Always click “Next”.
4. Plug the CrypTA USB Dongle in your computer. (Microsoft® Windows® OS required)
5. Start the CrypTA-Client.
6. Choose “Initialize CrypTA Dongle”.
7. Enter the data set from the email. The fields are case sensitive! Choose your own PIN (numerical).
Please make sure not to lose your Pin!
8. Click on “Press to Start”:
You have to update the CrypTA Rights at least every 90 days. An email reminder will be sent two weeks
before the CrypTA Rights on the Dongle get invalid. To update the CrypTA Dongle use the CrypTA Client
and choose “Update CrypTA Dongle”.
For all technical issues with CrypTA or if you have problems with your registration or have not received
the email from the CrypTA system please contact the Diebold Nixdorf Service Desk.

CrypTA Setup Process:
1. Start the downloaded CrypTA Installer and click on the button “Install”.
CrypTA Client Components
The CrypTA Client Installer will install three components.
1. The Codemeter Runtime, which is mandatory.
2. The Smart Shelter PDF Reader. It is an Acrobat Reader® plugin, which is used to decrypt
CrypTA secured PDF files you may get from Diebold Nixdorf.
3. The CrypTA Client itself. It is used for initializing and updating your CrypTA Dongle.

2. Finish the installation by clicking the “Close” button.
The CrypTA Client is now installed in the folder
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Diebold Nixdorf\CrypTA".
The entire folder can be copied on the CrypTA Dongle as well.
3. Start the CrypTA Client by double-clicking the desktop symbol:
