Salt Analysis: Test For Anions

This document describes a series of chemical tests to identify the anions and cations present in a salt sample through observation of reactions. It involves treating the salt with reagents such as acids and bases, and observing properties of gases evolved or precipitates formed to infer what ionic species may be present. Confirmation tests are also outlined to verify the initial inferences. The overall analysis allows identification of common anions like carbonate, halides, nitrate, sulfate, and acetate and cations like ammonium, group I/II/III/IV metals, barium, strontium, and calcium.
