Integrated tasks: Part A Task 1
p. 20
Narrator: It was almost the end of English class. Lisa was already packing her
things in her bag ready to go. She was the popular girl who was
(2)
outgoing and had a following of admirers. She had (1) long wavy light
brown hair, slightly tanned skin from cheerleading practice, and a
(1)
slender figure.
Lisa: (whispering) Rachel, meet me at the basketball court after lunch.
Narrator: Rachel was one of Lisa’s many followers. She used to have black hair,
but she dyed her hair (3) blonde and cut it (3) short because Lisa said she
didn’t want her to have the same hairstyle. She was (3) slender like Lisa
because she went on an extreme diet to lose weight. But unlike Lisa, she
was (4) quiet and shy.
Rachel: Don’t we have cheerleading practice?
Lisa: Just meet me there! (bell rings)
Narrator: Lisa darted out the classroom. Nick always sits by the door, so he can
hold the door open for her every day. He’s not the type that Lisa would
like though. He was (5) dark, skinny and had very curly black hair, not to
mention the big round dorky (5) glasses. But he (6) took his schoolwork
seriously and always did the right thing.
Nick: Tommy, how can someone be so perfect?
Tommy: Forget it, Nick. You’ll never have a chance with her.
Narrator: Tommy was Nick’s best friend. But unlike Nick, he was (8) confident,
maybe a bit too confident. He was always eager to answer questions in
class even though he got most of them wrong. He had (7) light brown hair
like Lisa, but (7) shorter, of course. Compared to Nick, he had a (7) lean,
muscular body. Suddenly, Mr Carter, the principal, stormed in with two
school guards … (fade out)
