1.2 Departments
1.2.1 Production Department

A production department is a group of functions within a business that is

responsible for the manufacture of goods. This can include just a few specialized
functions with all other work outsourced, or a fully functioning department that converts
raw materials, assembles components into finished goods, and packages them.

The production department can be the largest organization within a business. It

may employee mechanics, machine setup specialists, maintenance personnel, and
machine variable A key focus of the production department is efficiency. To that end, the
bottleneck operation within the facility is closely monitored and supported so that
throughput (revenue minus costs) is maximum.

1.2.2 Quality Department

Quality assurance managers play a crucial role in business by ensuring that
products meet certain thresholds of acceptability. They plan, direct or coordinate quality
assurance programs and formulate quality control policies. They also work to improve an
organization's efficiency and profitability by reducing waste.

Figure 1.2 Quality Department

1.2.3 Material Handling Department

Material handlers work in warehouses and production facilities to move products.
This might mean finding materials on the shelves and wrapping them and putting them on
a delivery truck, or pulling materials off the truck and putting them in the proper shelf
spot.
1.2.4 Human Resources Department
Mr Ramachandra Chittale specialists are responsible for recruiting, screening,
interviewing and placing workers. They may also handle employee relations, payroll,
benefits, and training. Human resources managers plan, direct and coordinate the
administrative functions of an organization.

WORK ASSIGNED

2.1 KNUCKLE JOINT

Knuckle joints are rod-couplings and are used to connect the members in trusses
and other structures. It is a structural member and not a power transmitting member.
These joints are used for different types of connections e.g., tie rods, tension links in
bridge structure. In this, one of the rods has an eye at the rod end and, the other one is
forked with eyes at both the legs. A pin (knuckle pin) is inserted through the rod End eye
and Fork-end eyes and is secured by a collar and a split pin. Knuckle Joint is used to
connect two rods and these two rods are in tensile load, when there is need of small
amount of flexibility or angular moment. There is always an axial action of load.

2.1.1 Knuckle Joint Advantages

 Knuckle joint can withstand large tensile loads.

 Contains good mechanical rigidity.
 Easy to manufacture and set up.
 Assemble and dismantled is easy.
 Design is simple and easy.
2.1.2 Knuckle Joint Disadvantages

 It is not suitable for large compressive loads.

 Permit angular movement in only one plane.

CHAPTER 5

CONCLUSION

This report covered the preview of our learning path. The use of CATIA and Solid
Edge has many advantages. It can help to reduce the time it takes to produce the drawing
needed in the work environment. Solid Edge software is the most amazing range of
mechanical computer aided design tool.

This software is utilized to provide some useful and practical designing software
that will allow user to visualize as well as create prototypes of a product in reality and
quick time. However, this requires in dept knowledge and understanding of the entire
software and it’s basic as well as important features. It has very vast application in the
field of manufacturing, architecture and many more. With the help of this software,
drawing can be easily modified whenever wanted and it reduces the human effort.
