Exhaust System: Section

The exhaust system was checked for improper attachment, leaks, cracks, damage or deterioration. The exhaust system parts were removed and installed, taking care not to cut hands on insulator edges and avoiding gaps between insulators and pipes. Deposits were removed from connection surfaces before secure reconnection to prevent leaks. Nuts and bolts were temporarily tightened to check for interference before tightening to specification. Mounting rubbers were installed without twisting or unusual extension. The seal bearing was inserted correctly and its bolt tightened with the spring facing the flange without interfering with the flange.

Removal and Installation EBS008QU

CAUTION:
● Be sure to use genuine NISSAN exhaust system parts or equivalents which are specially designed F
for heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and shape.
● Perform the operation with the exhaust system fully cooled down because the system will be hot
just after the engine stops.
G
● Be careful not to cut your hand on the insulator edges.

● If the insulator is badly deformed, repair or replace it. If deposits such as mud pile up on the insulator,
remove them. A
● When installing the insulator avoid large gaps or interference between the insulator and each exhaust
pipe.
● Remove deposits from the sealing surface of each connection. Connect them securely to avoid gas leak- EX
age.
● Temporarily tighten the exhaust manifold side mounting nuts and the vehicle side mounting bolts. Check
each part for unusual interference, and then tighten them to the specified torque. C
● When installing each mounting rubber, avoid twisting or unusual extension in up/down and right/left direc-
tions.
● Insert the seal bearing in the direction as shown. Tighten the D
mounting bolt with the big end of the spring facing the flange.
CAUTION:
Tighten the mounting bolt without causing interference with E
the flange.

Inspection After Installation EBS008QV

● With the engine running, check exhaust tube joints for gas leakage and abnormal noise. H
● Check to ensure that mounting brackets and mounting insulators are installed properly and free from
undue stress. Improper installation could result in excessive noise and vibration.
