Introduction:
In today's world, being able to speak English is considered an essential skill for contributing to
its complexity. The entire view is that speaking ability makes it possible for them to survive in
competitions that place English as a requirement for their survival. It is obvious that learning to
speak English is becoming a trend to keep up with this situation. We use the English language
for communication in our everyday lives, which enables us to be more effective. English is
widely used in various academic disciplines around the world. Providing students with job
opportunities enables them to broaden their minds, develop emotional skills, and broaden their
perceptions. Language learning disability (LLD) is often considered when discussing
barriers to learn language, both in the context of learners of English and other languages. English
is used by many countries as the sole language of communication because it has grown in
popularity over time. Most of the global communication is conducted in English. Even though
English is not the most widely spoken language on the planet, it has been designated as the
official language of 53 nations. Furthermore, around 400 million people worldwide use it as their
first language. As the most spoken second language in the world, learning this language will
open doors to new prospects. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the problems that English
language learners face as a second language learners in daily life.
Challenges
A person who learns English will find it simple to speak with many individuals on the planet,
furthermore, it is the most widely acknowledged language of higher education, making it easier
for students, particularly in the Western world, to pursue higher education. In addition, most
social media platforms were developed in the western world, specifically the United States and
the United Kingdom, making English a must for everybody to communicate globally. Most of
the global knowledge base and literature is written in English. All of this is available to someone
who is fluent in English. Although there are some benefits in learning this language, language
barrier is proved to be a significant difficulty for most learners.

Poor English Vocabulary
Any language, including English, has thousands of words. Vocabulary is an essential component
of learning a language. There are just too many words in the language to learn that even native
speakers are unable to speak it all. The number of words you need to converse in English is only
800, according to many of the sources I have found. If you are surprised by how much
vocabulary you know, you're not alone. Learning English vocabulary can also be challenging
since people learn new words, but promptly forget the words they have just learned
(Manganello,2022).
The best way to learn new vocabulary is to read in conjunction with a dictionary. To find a
variety of new vocabulary, read as many reading materials as you can, including books,
newspapers, magazines, etc (Alić,2022). Make each new word meaningful. Studies have shown
that our brain makes a stronger connection between new verbal concepts and images. To
remember the word "temperament", you might link it to the word "temperature". You could, for
example, remember the meaning at any given time based on the connection. If the concepts you
link are helping your memories new vocabulary, they do not need to be related in any way
(Alić,2022).
Poor English-Speaking Skills
A common complaint researchers hear is learners' inability to communicate effectively when
learning a new language. Many people suffer with poor speaking abilities, whether it's a problem
with lowering their accent or a lack of vocabulary or grammar to have a competent discussion.
People believe that mastering grammar in a classroom or studying vocabulary terms would
improve their ability to communicate in English. However, those qualities will only provide you
with a basic understanding of the English language and will not transfer into true conversational
English abilities (Manganello,2022).
First and foremost, it is critical to practice with native English speakers. Learners who live in an
area with many English speakers may be able to strike up informal conversations with neighbors
and regional businesspeople. Joining a group or volunteering for a cause may be a terrific
opportunity to meet new people in an informal setting. Another alternative is to enroll in online
programs that include English-related courses, such as IELTS preparation. Consider hiring a

private tutor if that isn't a possibility. Many students use platforms like Skype or Google
Hangouts to discover tutors and meet with them online (How to Improve English Speaking Skills

Local Idioms and Slangs
As with most languages, spoken English is more casual than written English, adding to the
difficulty of learning the language for the unfortunate learner. Slang is another part of the
language that learners should get familiar with, since it is required information to comprehend
casual discourse (a simple example is "yeah," which is slang for "yes"). English is also filled
with idioms, which may not make sense to all those learning the language, yet idiom knowledge
is required to speak English like a native speaker (College of English Language. 2022. Idioms &

Hear it - To learn a new phrase, you must first hear it, read it, or meet it in some other manner.
To add idioms and phrases to your vocabulary, you must first be continually on the lookout for
them. Write it down - Next, write down the new phrases or idioms so you don't forget them. Yes,
it's a little out of date, but certain classics never go out of style, and this is one of them. It won't
go away if you write it down, which can't be true for our fickle recollections. Finally, for a
phrase to become part of your everyday lexicon, you must utilize it. It's of no use to anyone, least
of all you, if it's just a collection of letters on a piece of paper. So, try it out, either in writing or
in conversation with a friend, and don't worry, you'll remember it (College of English Language.

Pronunciation
It might be tough to figure out how to pronounce things in English because it isn't always
evident. English speakers are taught from a young age the complexities of how to pronounce
something to convey the correct meaning, which is how they know not to pronounce the 'k' in
'knight.' Furthermore, depending on the English student's first language, accurately pronouncing
some words may be challenging if they have never made that phonetic sound before.

Pay attention to intonation and stress: It takes more than knowing individual sounds to have good
pronunciation. It's also about being aware of intonation and emphasis. Aloud read poetry,
speeches, and songs, paying attention to word emphasis and tone.
Grammar:
It is essential for better communication and mastering the English language. When grammar is
used correctly in English language acquisition, it gives the desired meaning, however when it is
used incorrectly, it causes full confusion and affects the meaning of the phrases. As a result,
English grammar is complicated and must be used logically. The study of English grammar
entails understanding ideas, rules, and regulations that can only be learned by practice. Grammar
is highly essential in English since improper usage causes confusion and makes comprehension
difficult.
Reading is, without a doubt, the most efficient way to improve grammatical abilities. As a result,
when students read, they may reinforce correct grammar in their minds. Reading entails seeing,
talking, and hearing, all of which aid in their comprehension of fundamental grammar. Reading
will assist students in all aspects of their writing, from phrase flow to increased vocabulary, as

Conclusion:
To sum up, learning English as a second language can be difficult. For learners’ pupils, there will
be numerous bumps in the path. The most essential thing is to keep them focused and motivated.
Today, learning English has become a necessity for all people of the world. Although second
language learners may have problems with differences in first language and accent, there are
solutions that can be addressed, and English skills developed. Finally, it is the responsibility of
students to validate their English language acquisition, which must stem in part from an
understanding of English's significance in the modern world. This initiative is noteworthy
because it demonstrates that, while English is widely spoken across the world, EFL education is
scarce. While it is impossible to foresee the future of languages, the English language is
unquestionably becoming the global standard, particularly in daily life.
