Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 3

This lesson plan outlines teaching students about the three states of matter - solids, liquids, and gases. It includes showing students pictures and examples of different states of matter, discussing their characteristics like shape and volume, and having students identify states of matter in pictures. The lesson also involves students watching a video on changes of matter and doing an activity to match pictures of matter to their state.

Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 3

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:

a. Students understand what is matter

b. Students will be able to identify the three (3) states of matter

c. Realize the importance of changes of matter

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: Characteristic and Changes of Matter

b. Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, Print Materials, Video clip, Solid

objects, Liquids,

c. Reference: https://sciencing.com

III. PROCEDURE
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Review

B. ACTIVITY

(Show a picture of the three (3) state of matter)

What state of matter it is? Solid

How about the next one? Liquid

The last one? Gas

C. ANALYSIS

From those picture that I have

showed you, what do you think is today?

What is matter?

What are the three types of matter?

D. ABSTRACTION

Matter is anything that we can see around us, that has mass, and occupies
space. Matter has three states: Solids, Liquids, Gases.

Matter is anything that has weight and takes up space. Matter exists in three
main forms: solids, liquids, and gases.

Solids have shapes. Solid is all about the things has shapes and volumes
which we encounter it every day.

A solid has these two main properties:

1. A solid has a definite shape and it does not change

2. A solid has a definite volume
Example: A Book or a Rock

Liquids do not have a shape. They take the shape of the container
they're in.
A liquid has these two main properties:

1. A liquid does not have a definite shape and liquid can take the shape of the
containers that it’s in.

2. A gas has a definite volume.

Example: Water or Juice

Gas particles are not held together.

A gas has these two main properties:

1. A gas does not have a definite shape but it can take shape when it’s
inside of the container.

2. A gas does not have a definite Volume.

Example: Balloon and the air

These two objects are gases because they take on the shape of the
container like to this balloon although we cannot see the gas in the inside
but it’s still there. Just like the air around us, we are breathing. We can’t
see it, but it’s taking the shape of this room.

 Have the children watch a video clip about the changes of matter.

What is all about the video clip?

About the changes of matter which when any matter converts itself from one
state of matter to other.

We have noticed that when we heat solid, it turns to liquid.

When we heat liquid, it turns to gas.

Next, when we cool down the gas it converts to liquid.

And when liquid and cools down it converts to solid.

E. APPLICATION

Group a student. Assign or have each group to identify the three states of
matter base on the given pictures.
F. GENERALIZATION

What is matter?

What are the three (3) states of matter and give each characteristic?

What are the characteristics of each state of matter?

IV. EVALUATION

Direction: Draw a line to match each picture with the correct state of matter.

1. A. Gas

2
B. Liquid
3. C. Solid

V. ASSIGNMENT

Direction: List at least five (5) objects in each state of matter.
