Statstic PBL

The document is a project assignment for a statistics course analyzing pulse rates between men and women. It includes: 1. Minutes from a group meeting where tasks were divided for collecting pulse rate data from 30 men and 30 women. 2. A FILA table outlining the facts, ideas, learning issues and action plan for the project. 3. Results showing the collected pulse rate data and conducting hypothesis tests to analyze if there are differences in pulse rates between genders and compared to standards. The results supported the hypotheses that men's and women's average pulse rates differ from standards, and that there is a difference between genders' average pulse rates.

3.0 RESULT

The standard pulse rate for adult men is between 70 and 72 beats per minute while for adult
women is between 78 and 82 beats per minute. Do a research by taking 30 samples of men
and women and answer all the hypothesis below.

4.0 CONCLUSION

For question a), b) and c), the n value is more than 30, σ 2 population is unknown and
it is a two tailed test for all questions. Based on these conditions, we choose the second
x−μ
formula which is ztest = . All three tests are claim at 5% level of significance. The value
s/√n
of ztest for a), b) and c) are 3.394, 2.7348 and -1.93. The critical value, zα/2, is ±1.96. The result
for a) and b) is reject H0 as the value of ztest are more than the critical value while c) is failed
to reject H0 because the value of ztest is less than the critical value.

Hypothesis statement for a) and b) are same. For men’s data, there is enough evidence
to support the claim at 5% level of significance that there is a different mean pulse rate for all
men from the standard of 72 beats per minute. For women’s data, there is enough evidence to
support the claim at 5% level of significance that there is a different mean pulse rate for all
women from the standard of 82 beats per minute. Hypothesis statement for c) is there is not
enough evidence to support the claim at 5% level of significance to show there is a different
mean pulse rate between men and women.
