The diagram illustrates the way rainwater is collected and reused for household
consumptions.
Overall, there are five main steps to purify and collect water using some
rudimentary and modern devices, namely water tank, underground pipes, water and
wastewater treatment plant.
When the rain pours down to earth, a dam is used to collect rainwater and this
amount of water will then be sent to a water treatment plant for domestic purposes.
The house has its own rainwater tanks used for storing water running down from
the roofs, which was used for domestic consumptions as well. Household
wastewater is then sent to a wastewater treatment plant for recycling. Afterwards,
excess treated water is released into the river. There are also pipes running off the
surface to preserve and make stormwater to flow directly into the waterways
nearby.
