The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and
plans for its development.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and
make comparisons where relevant.
The two maps demonstrate planned developments which take place in the
centre of Islip town.
Overall, the small town will be totally transformed over the time period. The
most remarkable changes are the construction of buildings and transportation
system around the centre.
Currently, this town has a main road which run through the centre of the town
from east to west. This road has two side paths, one of which leads to school
and another leads to park. There are also two shops along both sides of the road
and residential areas
In the new design, the main road will be converted into a dual carriageway that
surrounds the centre of the town. There will be a path for pedestrian only. The
shops along the north side will be demolished to make way for the new
shopping centre, bus station and car park. The shop along the south side of the
street will remain, but the housing on the south will be expanded and the park
will be reduced in size.
