Networks
★ Network is a set of computer or
electronic devices connected
together.
★ Network is two or more system
joined together via a switch or
routing protocol.
★ The connection between these
devices can be done with
cables, wires or wireless.
★ A computer, printer, scanner
machines or file server can be
part of network.
The purpose of
using network
● Communication : We can send messages and emails over the network.
● Sharing : We use a network to share files.
● Saving work : We can save files onto network storage drives.
● Working together : Networks help people to work together.
Examples :
- When you are using google drive you are assessing a network.
- When you buy something using your mobile device you are assessing
a network.
- When you pull money out the ATM you are accessing a network.
ATM => Automated Teller Machine
The Internet is our greatest Network
Two main types of network
Local Area Network (LAN) Wide Area Network (WAN)
- Joins computers in single building - Joins computers that are far apart.
- LAN allows people in that building to - Organization with offices in different
work together cities or countries uses wAN
- A school network is LAN - The employee can work together

Transmission Media
Transmission media are cables, or wireless in order to transfer data
from one device to another device.
Message
Message is data or information which needs to be transferred from
one device to another device over a computer network
Protocols
- a set of rules and conventions that networking devices like computers should follow to
transfer data effectively
